Pulled shrubs using jeep in low range. Laid down cardboard as a weed blocker. Went to gravel yard, purchased 3/4" washed tile rock. Asked the loader to fill the box 3/4 full. I figure that would be around 1800lbs. WRONG. Check out at the scale, 4750lbs !! Drove 30km home taking range roads at 90kph. Truck didn't tag the bumpstops, trans stayed around 55*c. Averaged 14.1L/100km which isn't bad for a 2.1 metric ton load on a 5.7L gaspot. jonathan fucked around with this message at 06:44 on May 5, 2015 |

That kind of poo poo is how you get a hole in your transmission. I had a pallet of rock in the back of that dodge i had, 4000+lbs, i had to take the tailgate off to get enough torque on it with the forklift to get it out, you could barely tell it was there, still got 14mpg cruising in 6th gear. That was a dually and a diesel with a proper transmission though.

Biggest load the Tacoma has taken so far, about 2500 lbs worth of industrial gearbox and associated doo-dads. Didn't really bring it down too bad and actually handled surprisingly well. Truck had literally 300KMs when I put this in and the guys at the plant were asking if I wanted a blanket or carpet down in the plastic bed so I wouldn't scratch it. Also, remember to vote today people.. not that you could forget with all the robocalls for the past few weeks. Actually had the PC candidate herself come through our neighborhood last night campaigning and came to my door. She's a little worried and rightfully so. Our riding is a bit of a unicorn in the far south in that it's actually got a pretty strong history of voting Liberal, only to recently go PC when the MLA crossed the floor a few years back. slidebite fucked around with this message at 18:24 on May 5, 2015 |

I will freely admit I am not an NDP supporter but change is a good thing and I'll certainly give them a shake (not that I have a choice). I genuinely hope they don't raise taxes more or less across the board (including a sales tax) within the next couple years. If they can actually do what they say they will, I can be converted.

I think most people are thinking along those lines, this is very much a test drive to see what they can do. If the economy is still in the shitter four years from now it'll be back to business as usual. Sales tax is going to kill them if they bring that in.

There's no way they'll introduce a sales tax. It would take years for it to pay for it's own implementation, and by that point they'd have gotten the boot for it. They'll probably just go to progressive income tax, and higher corporate taxes like they were elected to do.
|
# ? May 6, 2015 04:48 |

Even with the NDP tax plan (which is well documented on their platform) you will pay less in personal income tax than under the proposed 2019 PC plan until you make $300,000 a year. If anyone in that thread has that problem, please give me all income that you make over $300,000 and I'll take care of the taxes for you. The higher corporate income tax is partially designed to offset small business subsidies and part of their job-creation plan which I don't really understand but probably includes partial coverage of salary in order to give small businesses a leg up on being able to expand. Sales tax is super regressive and is not a component of the ANDP platform. Seat Safety Switch fucked around with this message at 04:55 on May 6, 2015 |
