From an outsider's perspective Mac seems pretty harmless most of the time, but every once in a while produces a real stinker

Cagle is on a loving roll. I'm almost certain that Rall has made a number of cartoons making GBS threads on Snowden for various dumb reasons. First and foremost being that he's not Ted Rall

Broken Loose posted:Fine, whatever, it's not literally (as I stated it was) entrapment because they weren't cops. The dead guys were absolutely and exclusively motivated by the event, though, and the event was explicitly designed to motivate them. Even if they were cops it still wouldn't be entrapment, if I'm walking down the street and an undercover cop says "Hey man wanna buy some cocaine?" and I say "Sure" and get arrested, I can't say "But it's entrapment, I wouldn't have tried to buy drugs if he hadn't been there!" It doesn't qualify as entrapment because the cop did not coerce me into buying drugs, he merely offered an opportunity. I had every right to say "No, I don't want any cocaine" and keep walking. If he pulled a gun on me and said "Buy some cocaine or I will shoot you" and then I said okay and he arrested me, that would be entrapment because he put me in a situation where I felt forced to commit a crime.

The term NWS seems kind of useless for this thread, since looking at some of this lovely art at work has gotta be as damaging as looking at boobs.

Don Asmussen updated a bunch of his recent Bad Reporters on Gocomics to make them into the old, larger format where you didn't have to squint to read them. Today's is the long strip again for whatever reason, but it's good so here you go.

I don't know why they're carrying around Strelas, but the Soviets liked the ZU-23-2 in Afghanistan because it could elevate to bring heavier firepower to bear on targets uphill that other crew-served weapons couldn't reach. The same thing happened in the Chechen wars, where AA platforms like Tunguskas and Shilkas were deployed in city fighting because they could reach targets above street level that the T-72s couldn't.

RagnarokZ posted:I'm just a simple European, and I have absolutely no clue what this one supposed to say. It's definitely pro-Bernie, along with a dash of "Average 'Muricans are dumb as hell." It is kind of weak by Horsey's standards because there's not much in the way of commentary, there, but he's one of the few American editorial cartoonists who bothers with fully-rendered backgrounds any more, so that's definitely to be appreciated.

It;s more like the father has a moment of clarity wherein he realizes "Why am I supposed to hate this guy?". The cartoon juxtaposes some classic Americana with socialism -which is to say that Bernie Sanders is in the vein of Huey Long, or one of the few times that practical socialism has been wrapped up in all American package.

It doesn't work that way for me though, since it's been so bashed into my head from childhood that socialism is un-American that it looks like he's trying to trick those guys. And, I'll never forget the line from Bulworth, which was very influential to me as a kid regarding US politics: "Lemme hear that dirty word! Ssssssssocialism!"

It's not the gadgets, not the insane villains or the parkour or Alfred being in the SAS or Catwoman fitting that figure into that suit that breaks the suspension of disbelief. It's the idea that a rich inheritee could possibly, possibly give a gently caress about the lower classes.
