Earlier in this thread it was mentioned that there are already books released that take place after the results of Secret War.

Is there a list somewhere of which those are?

The only ones released so far have been the All New All Different Avengers free comic and Rage of Ultron OGN.

Oh, okay. I thought people were saying that some of the ongoings that came out last week actually took place after Secret Wars.

Looks like someone forgot his hardhat...
So is the focus of Secret Wars going to be the end of everything or the Battleworld combat, or something else entirely?

Because, despite the fact that this is the - what, third? - time they've used it, it's not a very fitting title for what seems to be going on.

That being said the book itself was solid and if it finally brings an end to 2 years of Hickman saying "it's all pointless this time, it's all over" then I'm happy for it.

Well turns out the reason Ultimate Reed goes evil is because Ultimate Kang (actually Sue Storm from the future) tells him bad things are coming (Age of Ultron's time fuckery aka Galactus) so he needs to step up and save the world, collect the infinity gauntlets, and stop it all from happening.

Of course, the way to go about it is destroying part of Europe, killing the President (and congress) and killing almost everyone in the process but by stopping him poo poo he was trying to prevent happens and Kang runs aways.

Then we get the wonderful (poo poo) known as Cataclysm where Kitty Pride punches Galactus in the face.

Was that a retcon? The initial Evil Ultimate Reed storylines were several years before Cataclysm.

No, issues three and four will be in June. Issue five in July. Alonso has said the issues will be spaced farther apart the deeper into the event it goes.

I'm ok with it, because I only spend a certain amount of money on comics every week, so when a weekly book comes out it becomes really annoying.

I did just finish reading Secret Wars 1 though and man I really loved it. Even though I was buying Avengers and New Avengers every issue I feel like they kind of lost steam after Namor left. It felt like Hickman was just treading water until Secret Wars started up. So I am glad things are starting to happen again. Secret Wars feels like what Convergence should have been.

Sorry to bring this up from last page, but I was gonna go back and read up on some previous stuff to catch up to SW and I have a couple qs:

what arc does Reed go evil in
Does the Galactus/cataclysm arc end right before SW starts or am I still going to be missing the backstory?

E: the reading list in the op lists the avengers/new av titles as the books to look at but are those before or after cataclysm I guess is what I should be asking. The synopses you guys have given have Cataclysm occurring most recently so I'm kinda confused.

Reed goes evil in the Ultimate Enemy, Ultimate Mystery and Ultimate Doom trilogy.

Hickman's run which brings him back is Ultimate Comics Ultimates Vol something. After that he passes the torch to someone else (Spencer?) and the book goes to poo poo on the Divided we Fall arc. That in between arc I believe begins the hunt for Infinity Gems and then on UCU#25 Kang shows up, frees Reed and Hulk and the infinity arc begins proper.

The end of that arc coincides with the end of Age of Ultron which is what brings Galactus to the Ultimate Universe. From there we get the Hunger and Cataclysm minis.

Cataclysm was a bit ago and basically killed the Ultimates. The book relaunched as all new Ultimates with a teenage group which should have been amazing but ended with some atrocious art.

I kinda miss when something could end without the cast just getting nuked. You could just imagine they were still having adventures together, they just weren't being published anymore.

I'm reading all of the pre-Secret Wars Hickman stuff, and in the Avengers issues where they're fighting in Perth one of the Avengers is some figure flying around covered in black goopy stuff with red eyes. Who is that supposed to be? Smasher?

EDIT: I did some google searching and I guess it's supposed to be Sunspot? I guess I missed that that's what he looks like in the earlier issues.

That's not always safety-Avengers Academy ended pretty well, and then they decided to revisit them in Avengers Arena.

Spider-Girl had ended years before, in an 'The End' one-shot no less, and then Dan Slott ruined everything.

If you can't do anything good with a character, writers, don't do anything at all.
