If you ain't cheatin you ain't tryin', as long as the aim mod isn't on their VERBOTEN list (while discouraged the mod isn't banned yet), you're just putting yourself at a disadvantage so you can claim the moral high ground (which no one gives a gently caress about in a competitive game if the developer isn't willing to enforce it)

It's not just the fact that the mod is one step away from an aim bot that bothers me, but it also acts as crutch. You will never improve as a player if you keep relying on it, and if by some miracle Wargaming decides to give a gently caress about their game, you are going to be loving hosed until you either git gud or outright banned.

No good will come from this mod. Especially if it makes it to open beta and Wargaming still hasn't fixed it. Nothing kills a playerbase faster than launch day hackers wrecking everyone's poo poo. Heck, even just the perception that the game is full of cheaters will likely be enough to make sure the game sinks at launch.

Oh no, the mod actually made my aim worse, since it made me second-guess my shots. What would be insanely valuable is a server-side crosshair so I know where my shots are ACTUALLY going to land. I don't use the lead indicator because I don't really need it, especially with my habit of splitting my guns firing into even divisions of my total reload time, which gives me a very good and constant idea of where my lead should be, instead of just blasting all my shots in a broadside and praying 2-3 of them hit.

Also I imagine your face is rather red and angry when you think about this mod because NO GOOD WILL COME FROM THIS MOD :ssj:

I tried the assist thing linked in the OP just to see what all the fuss is about.

Maybe it's not calibrated for the Myogi or something but the indicator is nowhere even close to where I needed to aim to hit shots.

So you are basically saying "lets cater to the sperglords and the tryhards that will never be happy and whine incessantly about losing their immersion". Sure makes for a fun game.

The aim bot excels if you want to punish people sailing in a straight line, everything else becomes a call of judgement. It is hardly a game breaking mod.

I don't think a lead indicator is quite on the level of an aimbot since projectiles have quite a bit of travel time but wargaming does need to decide if learning to lead targets is part of the fundemental gameplay they are aiming for and then just level the playing field for everyone by either making it a feature or removing it completely. The bit about it being able to lead obstructed targets kind of sucks since the benefit of islands is partly to disguise any course adjustments you are making.

Yea it is wrong on most/all ships.
Usualy I have to lead it and aim slightly above it for proper hits.

To be honest I feel like the aim assist has helped get better shots into the citadel's of ships. Before I tried it I was always landing on the front or the rear of a ship, never in the sweet spot. After using it for a week and then getting rid of it I'm leading my shots a lot better in the 10-20km range.

Are we talking about aim assist or the Eye of Sauron mod which is out there?? The OG aim assist that was out there with the red indicator is different from the EoS where the latter feels like a better mod. Either or you still have to see it for what it is.. a tool that helps you get a better idea of where you need to lead your shots. Neither tool will all you to land pinpoint accurate shots because you have a moving target that will change direction and speed which will throw everything out the window the second you click to fire.

If World of Tanks is any indication the aim mod is here to stay, so you might as well just get used to the fact that some people use it and enjoy the view from your high horse if you don't.

I'm still not sure which mod you're referring to when you mention "aimbot" and I don't want to mess around with another mod, how much changes? I downloaded the Kancolle one (please don't bully me) because it had the alt-button-always-on thing which really helps. Does the other mod add a separate point to aim at or what?

The Yamato is a slowish HP brick. lovely battleship pubbies cower behind its 97000 HP and shriek that they are the best and everyone should bow and scrape before them. Every time you kill one of them (especially if whinging pubbie accuses you of hacking afterwards) you are doing God's work.

Just walk your fire onto the waterline under funnels at a range where your shells are arcing slightly when they hit :shobon:

As for knowing where to lead, I've got a pretty good feel for the Mogami's guns now so it's pretty much point and shoot, correct by as much as needed. The lead mod really doesn't seem like a big deal to me because my brain is practically the same thing, the only time I tend to miss is if a ship is moving at a funky angle or constantly changing course and speed at long range.

I'm not terrible with getting hits, but nailing citadels consistently every time is something I haven't acquired yet, I usually finish with 6-10 citadels in a cruiser, or maybe 4-5 in a BB if I am lucky. (it is really loving hard to citadel a juking cruiser when your shells take so long to arrive)

Dude.. Do you even know what immersion means?

It has nothing to do with immersion. Immersion is like: OMG! Wrong flag! I hate this game!

This is more: Omg! This guy hits me 70% of the time no matter wtf I do!

It may not be game breaking, but since that mod came out and became more popular, the difference is notable.

I wonder if the Mogami's 155mm guns will still be viable after the tier switch and 3.1 armor changes. I love the rate of fire on them.

So, this was kinda strange and neat.

Fubuki game on Arctic. A friendly Cleveland and enemy Mutsuki wipe out each other in the A cap while I'm prowling the icefield. I spot that Amagi entering the ice field and fire a good full spread at him. He dodges them like a boss. Like seriously, this guy knew what he was doing. Also jinked a TB run very well, but got his spotter plane shot down by the escorting fighters. Just as I reload, he's vanishing behind one of the medium-sized icebergs right after getting about ~3 seconds of spotting on me. He's still lit up by the fighter squadron that's leaving. So I come up with a plan. I fire one spread right at the corner he's driving towards from about 6.5km as the predictor tells me. He smells it coming and brakes in time to let them pass like half a kilometre in front of him, then goes back to full speed around the corner feeling smug about it... and sees the other six torpedos I fired about ten seconds after at the corner without heeding the predictor. About five seconds before they nuke him out of the water. Surprise, motherfucker. :smuggo:

Then as I cap A back, the Benson comes in and it turns into a clusterfuck. I run myself aground to get a good spread into him... and he survives *two* torps, then can't turn in time and rams my beached rear end for a mutual kill. :v:

Edit: Oh holy poo poo, fixed.

He's saying that allowing people to cheat in a game is a bad idea, and he's correct.

The "aim bot" excels at making leading a target easy, whether they cruise in a straight line or not. That is a large advantage in this game, which is why people are using the mod.
