Zelda timeline doesn't make an asslick of sense Why did they even bother? Anyone can tell from basic observation that none of the games are connected in any way

The Zelda games are like films in which Link, Zelda and Ganon are actors and outside of the game they are actually good friends.

Isn't that basically what happened in Super Mario Galaxy? After you beat the game, everyone just kinda stands around and looks at each other like "Well, yeah, I guess we just did that again."

It's Miyamoto's explanation for how Bowser and Mario can be mortal enemies in one game and friendly kart-racing rivals in another, yeah. He thinks of them like the old Popeye cartoons in which Bluto and Popeye often played different rolls (pirates, carpenters, musicians...) depending on what the story required. EDIT: Also Zelda and Mario exist in the same universe because Link can be found asleep in one of the inns in Super Mario RPG and there are Goombas in Link's Awakening. Stuff like smash bros and mario kart are like celebrity episodes of game shows, it's an easy few hours of work and maybe you earn a few bucks for a charity. Good publicity, gets your name out there, makes everyone feel good.

Everything is a stage play anyway, Mario 3 already proved it. Why the hell do you think Bowser let's his son get in on this. Every time Mario loses it's like a actor forgetting his lines and having to do a reshoot. Game overs are when the guy filming says gently caress it and walks out of the studio.

Fun fact, A Link to the Past was named that because it happened before Zelda 1. That is right, Nintendo started the timeline stuff with the third game. Oh right, Splatoon thread. I have to say, I really love how it seems like this game is the most unintentionally eSports thing. Like, so much of this game just works really well on a spectator level, including just the way turf wars plays, and I have to wonder if it was something they intended.

Wait this isn't the zelda thread wtf no but according to the march 2002 gamezine interview with satoru iwata this thread does count as a-canon and any events depicted here are therefore treated as having happened by nintendo writers unless one of the original nes games or playing cards contradicts it

You know, I had that thought in the back of my mind too. That would be the coolest thing if we could actually get Splatoon played at a professional level, hell I'd watch just to see all the teams just swim around the map at breakneck paces.

NOA's press people have been telling people that they expect the ranked mode to be unlocked within a couple days of launch, which makes me wonder why they're even bothering to "unlock" it to begin with.
