Gee, all those donations liberals gave that rear end in a top hat conservative surely must have had an effect on his political perceptions, right?

quote:

I had warned Lang on Monday that his story was likely to spur criticism of him and his decisions, but neither one of us was prepared for the scope and intensity of reactions. While many commenters were gracious, others were abusive. Lang’s wife, Mary, says she got a threatening phone call at their home Tuesday.

“It turned into a political thing,” Lang said. “That wasn’t my intention when I reached out. This is ridiculous.”

So has he learned anything from this experience?

“I did,” he said.

Although there has been extensive coverage of the Affordable Care Act since it was passed in 2010, Lang, who gets his news from local TV and the Internet, didn’t know about the Medicaid gapor that income fluctuations can make it difficult to calculate subsidies. He believes his case has helped people understand that.

“I hold the whole government responsible for this, state and federal,” he said. Greed from medical providers and the government also add to the flaws in the system, Lang said.

Does he hold himself responsible? There was a short pause.

“I do hold myself partly responsible because of the view that I had. I should have taken better care of my sugar,” he said. “Yeah, I should have had insurance.”

Glad he won't go blind but yeah what a loving rear end in a top hat. He experiences why the US healthcare system is loving terrible first hand and still blames the government. Didn't see a bunch of the right wing donating to him either. I guess maybe if he put "gently caress the queers" in there he would've been a millionaire by now

I like how he blames the government for being greedy somehow. God drat those greedy big government fed lackeys for not wanting him to die in the street by offering to expand Medicare to cover people like him (which his poo poo bag state rejected)?

He lamely includes "state government" in his blame list but I guarantee you he voted for that shitbag Haley and will continue to vote for any Republican trying for office.

edit:

Okay sure, I'll give you tactless and maybe even inappropriate, but saying it's "disrespectful" indicates to me it's actively making GBS threads on the military, which it is not. The military dick sucking has gotten really out of hand on this one. Even funnier is that Under Armour is a hugely military-friendly company, not just in a "service members get a discount when they show their military welfare ID" way (though they do that too), but they're huge partners with Wounded Warrior Project and other charities that help out people who actually made sacrifices.

I was curious to see how conservatives seem to react to that story, since I haven't seen any self identified conservative donate to that dude's GoFundMe page. Most right-wing sites ignored it entirely, but there was a thread about it on Freep:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3288956/posts?q=1&;page=1

Was actually somewhat surprised. Most of the reactions are basically "gently caress him". There's a few in there that of course blame Obama for interfering with the free market and thus making health insurance supposedly too expensive for this guy to get. But for the most part, nobody's really coming to bat for this dude.

Sure, you would think that. But these are the same people who came to the defense of some lowlife rancher who openly threatened to KILL federal agents. Yeah, this Lang guy is a hypocritical embarrassment, but conservatives generally look past that as long as the subject follows the most important criteria: :argh: Obummer!

It's my fault for turning on CNN, I know.
But I am troubleshooting some laptop problems and saw "Blindsided: How ISIS Shook The World" and thought, "Ok, I'll leave that on in the background."
My mistake.

This is a paraphrase of the narration from a few minutes ago:

"ISIS makes videos that are heavy on sophisticated graphics and powerful music. They also feature brutal acts of violence, which makes them go viral.
'Why,' you might ask, 'could such brutality actually attract followers?'
It appeals to young people, raised on violent video games and movies, etc..."

That's still a thing? Video games and movies turn children into merciless, brutal killing machines instead of, say, the incredible fuckery in their lives by foreign governments and the constant right-wing bloviating about boots-on-the-ground because Islam is a religion of intolerance and hate and these Arabs should be nuked down to bedrock?"

I honestly didn't see that coming.

Glen beck podcast safari, week four. The last couple weeks of updates were lost when i discovered i hadnt been posting at all, but was just making rhythmic tapping motions on my lying cats. Once i had regained my situational awareness i found the actual computer and i thought i'd share todays bullet points:

The pope has upset them greatly by saying that christians "may become martyrs", either through daily sacrifice or by being actually killed for being christian, IE syria/iraq. They think this sounds muslim and also suggest he may be gay. The idea of spending more money on inferstructure, while of course they agree with it completely, is horrifying because amtrak sucks. They speculate on what sort of welfare liberal the engineer may have been. Also comparing the infrastructure of europe and america is dumb becuase WE HAVE CARS HERE, LIEBERAL!". Also chris matthews suggesting building straight rail lines instead of curved ones gave them a solid 10 minutes of material. They replayed it no less than 3 times while laughing. Beck mentions a poll (none of the other hosts/yesmen had heard of) that 50% of liberals approve of socialism and capitalism the same with all the enthusiasm of someone who had just completed a checkmate at a world championship chess match.

Bill O’Reilly’s ex-wife accused the Fox News anchor of physically assaulting her in front of their daughter.

A source said Maureen McPhilmy, who was recently awarded custody of the couple’s two children, testified during a New York family court hearing that O’Reilly attacked her at their Manhasset home, reported Gawker.

The source said a forensic examiner testified that O’Reilly’s 16-year-old daughter claimed she saw her father drag her mother down a staircase by the neck, unaware the girl was watching.
