Ask Winston if he has any creepy sexual perversions like the current prime minister. That'll get a laugh out of him from my one dealing with him in 2005!

Capital gains tax? It's all Cunliffe's fault. Also, it's still not a CGT.

Also, it was policy written up in about a month, according to Todd McClay on Newstalk ZB. Apparently tax policy is usually written out over 4~6 months.

Results: cantankerous, folksy, still puffed-up about his Northland victory, said "not racist but" or equivalent so many times I lost count. He's starting to show his age. Not an attack on the dude, but it's written all over him that the engine is winding down a little. It'll be interesting to see how that goes.

How was his speaking ability? At times he seems pretty onto it but some of the Parliament TV I saw had him suttering and stammering like a very senile old man.

Yeah that was the thing. He picked up speed eventually, but he was definitely a bit doddery and wheezy to start out with. I almost felt bad for him. Tomorrow I'm gonna be on Backbenchers. I have been warned not to call Collins "crusher" to her face, and now that it's in my head I'm gonna have to try really hard not to.

what's with the whole thing in politics where no one takes anything anyone else says reasonably? why is everything always taken to the extreme? including things in this thread, everyone takes what people say out of context, extrapolate them to the extreme. it's like no one is actually interested in the intention of what the other party were trying to do but instead take parts of their statements out of context and try to use that against them. do people fall for that poo poo? no party is immune to doing this. virtually no one has any credibility because no one talks about things in a reasonable sense. parliment is like watching fuckin children and reading about poo poo here aint much better.
