So i've been battering my head against the werewolf fight and if this is really what the difficulty level is gently caress this game. It's impossible. I've done this fight probably 25-30 times now and its just ridiculous. Twice i've gotten him through the first phase which is also a loving nightmare because he just loving heals himself. So i either take a poo poo load of damage burning him down to 1/5 life so Ican get to the cut scene then I get to fight him again at full health and while he regens. It's impossible and loving stupid. This game is loving dumb. /meltdown

Just did the whole (earlylish) quest involving finding the witch and going through a dark cave with her and other than the fact I kept getting my rear end kicked by the golem and gargoyle cause I'm playing on hard, holy crap. That was awesome all around. I like the character there, she's good. Now to visit the Baron next time I play. Probably won't live up to that...

Get him down to the point near where he's about to start his regeneration. Pop a Thunderbolt Potion (boosts attack power) and a Swallow. Hack away. Use Igni. Take your time. Well, don't take your time when he's regenerating. There's a bomb you can make that stops regeneration I think, but I didn't use it. I got him at level 4 on broken bones difficulty. It took me like 45 minutes to finally get him. Seriously, take your time. Use those potions.

For PC, use a capture program like Dxtory or Fraps and bind a key to do it. You ought to be able to set files to save un compressed through those and do any post processing yourself then. A lot of PC games don't really do screen shot keys now because of that and Steam having it built in. (F12 or 11 on Steam. You need to fiddle with it to stop them being awful on Steam though). Can't get anywhere now. Any time I open up the inventory to look at a quest paper the game locks up almost 50% of the time now. the Nvidia power thing doesn't work, Full screen doesn't work, vsync doesnt work. I am convinced anyone who espouses it is just getting a long break. It's like Fallout 3 over again. Also, if you exploring partially sunken ships to the west side, be careful, cause if you enter some of them, you can't get out. Nekkers, Wolves/dogs, and large amounts of downers are the bane of my existence on hard. You just get stuck dodging everything forever. Also there is no quickload. I've mashed all my F keys. Nothing but F5 does anything.

If anybody is interested in making the game look a poo poo ton better, use this sweetFX preset: https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/preset/3696/ Usually i don't use these kind of things (enb shaders, sweet fx, etc.) since I tend to think they go way to far, but this preset makes the game look 100x more realistic IMO. Check these comparison screens out: https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/screenshot/25245/full/ https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/screenshot/25185/full https://sfx.thelazy.net/games/screenshot/25179/full Also, don't know if anyone's mentioned this fix, but I was having little micro-stuttering when turning the camera and when walking through villages. I found a fix that works perfectly: In the games Nvidia control panel profile, set max prerendered frames to 1. Completely fixed it for me.

Arglebargle III posted:I really like Geralt as a character. The martyr with superpowers is a staple in fantasy but he's usually the author's pet and not written consciously as a grumbling schmuck. The writers have a deft enough handle on the character to recognize that far from being the endlessly suffering Mary Sue savior, Geralt is a hypocritical glutton for punishment who constantly complains about his own choices. I love how much of a nerd Geralt is about being a witcher- when he hears a normal person describe himself as a freak, his first thought is lycanthropy.

Has anyone experienced consistent crashing when surfacing from underwater? It happens every time for me - I can dive into water fine, but when I try to resurface the game crashes. It's a bummer because there seems to be a bunch of treasure underwater. Are there any graphic settings I can change to fix this? My computer is ~2 years old, but can still run the game on high settings.

Is this like Mass Effect, where I really need to play at the bare minimum the 2nd one to really get into it, or like Dragon Age, where they just kind of scrapped all the story combos and you can have fun from any game.

So I'm 20 hours in, but I feel like I haven't accomplished anything. The shear amount of content is overwhelming. The game is everything I could have possibly hoped for and then some, there's too much praise to write about so I'll list off my few complaints: 1. The inventory is garbage. Mine usable item and alchemy pages are so loving cluttered I barely know what the gently caress to do with it. A mod that helps me sort through this junk would be really welcome, especially a way to somehow mark items I think are important and "hide" them or something. 2. Sometimes slow reaction to things. Especially bad as yo're moving around in combat because you might reach the edge of your enemy's aggro range, they'll turn away and then you'll put your sword away and then you rush back in and I have to fight to get my sword out. Getting on Roche can sometimes be a pain in the rear end. "I'm hitting A why the gently caress aren't you working." 3. XP seems really hard to come by. I'm only level 8 after 20 hours. I bet it has to be this way for a 100+ hour game though, so welp. 4. I hate how crafting recipes don't tell you the level of the item you're building. I've done that several times now where I'll build something and (especially considering complaint #3) I won't be able to use it for another 20-30 game hours. I mean everything I love about this game can be summed up by how I ended my night. I was just travelling to Crow's Perch after clearing out some pirates and giving the villagers their homes back, I was planning on using a road sign I had used a dozen times already. But, my way was blocked by a totally random Arachas that had spawned in the woods. So I finished my night with a completely random encounter with a fantastic enemy. Enemies that were push overs in the last game can be pretty dangerous now - especially if there are multiples of them. I love that nekkers are little gymnasts doing flips and stuff as they attack you - and I still love that they come in giant hordes. The Engrega in particular are not as stupid as W2, especially the warrior version with their tail spin. I could go on but I just stop there and say job well done, Comte and friends. I loving love this game. Also the game is beautiful so the conversations of a couple days ago seem especially stupid now.

When you craft it shows the level of the item before you make it. It's in the middle above the stats. My favorite part so far is the banter Geralt has escorting the goat in the woods when you get attacked by a bear.

I'm prepared to be mocked when I say that my most hated enemy is the drowner. I don't know what the gently caress but their attacks are sometimes spaced out in such a way that no matter which direction you dodged you'll still eat a face full of claws. There have been several times where I've seen a pack of drowners, started laughing thinking about the goal I was going to make off their brains and tongues only to barely survive the encounter.
