Now attach some ridiculous weapons (ie extendable blades and poo poo) to the arms and turn the hands into claws Also this kind of tech brings us a lot closer to the stage where some people will choose to replace a limb with tech. We are fast approaching the grimy Cyberpunk future

We're unlikely to see anyone but the ultra-rich opting for artificial limbs in our lifetime, as the price is going to remain astronomical for a long, long time to come. Maybe our grandchildren, or great grandchildren, will be able to get their cyber-dongs for cheap.

These things will be down to luxury car prices in not too long. Which isn't outstandingly expensive as far as US medical bills go.

ikanreed posted:"Ultra rich" is a bit extreme. But they won't. A lot of technology rapidly reduces in price because it's something everyone wants. 20 years ago an iPhone (if it could've existed 20 years ago) would've cost a fortune, but the price would've dropped to todays standards because everyone wants one. Which isn't going to happen with prosthetic limbs since very few people actually want one, even if it's superior to a human limb. It'll happen eventually, but not for a long, long time. And lets not forget this is the medical industry we're talking about here. Medical companies inflate the cost of their items to ridiculous heights because they can get away with it. I do purchasing of medical devices in my job, and nothing is cheap. A single stainless steel screw is $50. A plastic case to hold instruments is $500. A gastroscope is $80,000. And these are the cheap items. We recently bought a new set of cystoscopy equipment, which in a nutshell are various simple metal ports and cannulas, and it set us back $250,000.

Most of those fan films are parodies, which are easier to do right since you get to make inside jokes about a known universe. Also, they dont have to be special effect driven since it's about comedy and not about action. Making a fan film based off a non-cinematic franchise like a comic or a video game always looks bad, unless you spend A LOT of money to make it look good Even if you have the rights, money makes a differnce: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUcktiQxC9Q

Yeah, the way I understand it some people quit the class so the last little chunk is sections of finished work and extras from other students who tried different things with their frames that weren't submitted as their final work.
