Frank Miller's Holy Terror is a fascinating look into the soul of a broken, hateful millionaire who has nothing better to do than ink-scratch the poo poo out of his own hate Sexy suicide bombers corrupting piercing-loving youth! Chaotic caricatures! Torture fetish! In the 80s he did a rather confusing contribution to AARGH - Artists Against Rampant Government Homophobia, an anthology, put together by Alan Moore, designed to protest Clause 28 in the UK. While everyone involved did comics about the struggle of LGBT people or poetic/abstract calls for tolerance, Miller's strip was about a gay-hunting Robocop. Proper Steadmanian Thatcher, though

I seriously think DC should start a new, recurring satirical title based on Frank Miller's Batman, called "The Goddamn Batman." I mean Adam West Batman has his own title now (as well he should!).

Vivian James was originally just a mascot for /v/ to put into a sketchy game jam's final product, and she has since become a #NotYourShield mascot for GamerGate (despite being, you know, fictional). This made-up cartoon girlfriend with a rape meme-referencing shirt proves that Good Girls(tm) just want to game and forget all this SocJus crap. The people screaming bloody murder over a series of videos critical of games and an entirely made-up sex scandal are totally So, yes, pretty much what you thought.

"You don't need to be good at drawing to be a good cartoonist. Heil Ted Rall." The difference here is that Miller actually CAN draw when he applies himself/slows down and focuses, or at least COULD in the past. Aside from some occasional stiffness, there's nothing technically wrong with any of his pre-Sin City work, that I've seen. The problem is that he allowed the experiment Sin City represented to grow out of control and completely take over his style, ultimately degrading it and turning it into a horrible, mutated version of itself, instead of using it as merely a single learning experience or stepping stone, without forgetting fundamentals he'd already mastered, on the way to bigger things and other techniques. That's my take, anyway. Somfin posted:Personally, I think the dude's just got a fetish for shoe tread patterns.
