Geez, this game's cast is so tiny that it literally only has one named male character in it. One. (Sharl and robots, being genderless, don't count). And yet despite the barebones cast, they spend most of the dives on the non-playable characters. EDIT: I didn't see the update. Will read soon. Why did Ion suddenly start calling Kanon "Miss" on the DLC part? Is it just this game's bad translation, with Ion calling her "Kanon-san" in the Japanese version or something to that extent?

In the Tonelico games, the song servers do that for linked reyvateils; here, REON served a similar function (Tenmon faction), but synching with a Genom (Chimon faction) worked as well. With both gone the way of Ra Ciela, most people can't use songs anymore; Sharl would work, but obvious problems there. Cass and Sarly can still use powerful magic because they underwent a special procedure, Zill either did the same (she's the one that thought said procedure up) or is synching with Nelo, Ion is synching with Earthes I think, and Nay is an human soul in a Sharl body, so she can synch with herself. Time doesn't pass the same between the two dimensions, hence how we instantly timeskipped 2 years, or how we can pause or save and come back later. Nelo was only needed to make Cielnotrons work. Older trons (such as G2 trons) would probably still work. Of course Cass and Sarly are incarnates, so they're technically part genom, and sharls can use song magic at will too for the same reason.

I'm pretty sure their original bodies might not even exist anymore, so going back might be substantially more difficult than some bullshit bullshit now you're back just after you got grabbed like it was all a wizard of oz dream. But yeah as noted time is different so it might be possible to fix things from the mechanical perspective of getting them back into their original bodies. Unfortunately the one who's really trying to do that is also going to find it rather difficult given the strong implication of a later thing that Nelo doesn't even remember what her actual body looks like anymore (and honestly you could suspect the same thing for Ion). Next update is probably Tuesday (though the meeting I was supposed to have last week got moved so that might end up conflicting if it makes too much work for me), and it's going to definitely be two parts because the next Dive is long and also something pretty special. I'm reminded of an ending song to one particular game, called CANOE. The song is a metaphorical story where children cut down trees to build a tower, and as they climb it, they see a larger place on the distant horizon... So they cut down more trees, constructing a great raft to sail there. In the end, to make the mast, they have to cut down the nurturing Mother Tree. They look back at the island as they sail away and see a ruined wasteland of stumps, an island entirely barren of trees, eroding away because there's nothing to hold the island together against the waves. This is the point where most stories would say, "Look at that, isn't it sad? Humans are the real monsters!" CANOE says, "It's fine. All of this was so we could find hope and live on." It's a pretty refreshing perspective on the idea of a living planet and incoming apocalypse.

So that actually reminds me of something interesting in connection to that idea. EXEC_HIBERNATION is actually a song about that very sort of subject, it's about Raphlanca attempting to sow the seeds of life only for an ever-increasing swarm of birds to appear and devour them, eventually ruining everything. Then again, on Ar Ciel there's a reasonable argument for 'drat humans really hosed everything up' because they shattered the life of their planet and left it an unlivable waste with their hubris. It's a bit more murky with Ra Ciela because while you could argue that humanity had a role to play in Bezel getting hosed up and starting to expand, that it happened at all probably means it was coming in the near future regardless. So maybe they accelerated the doom of their planet, but it was one that was already coming. And then they came up with a plan that would have allowed everyone to escape including the Genom (except of course for the fact that Nelo spitefaced them).

Wouldn't they have had to have cut off billions of years of Bezels(the star Ra Ciela orbits) life span to turn it into a red giant? The transformation of a normal star into a red giant is a part of the stars life cycle the problem with bezel is that it happened way ahead of schedule because of Ion and Nelo. Although how much they damage they do to the universe is something that seems variable, since at one point they just mess up a star while at another they apparently cause the entire universe to start breaking down.

So humanity is basically on a timer as far as the Lovecraft mythos is concerned. Eventually all of human achievement will be destroyed, just like with the Elder Things. Elder Things still exist though and are pretty weird to see. They just don't have any of their civilization left and only exist in small clusters. They are normally carted around as some weird type of fish, from the very deep oceans. You should try checking them out if you haven't seen one. Dagon worship is the best by the way, especially those Oaths of Dagon. It is also a good way to get money, the only problem is getting people to buy your gold with terrifying emblems on them. Which is why the Marshes melted the gold down first.

It's a little weird because in the final chapters of Ciel, you find out that the genom are largely okay dying with Ra Ciela rather than migrating with humanity. Some genom do board the Soleil but the majority of them willingly stay behind. I don't remember if they were told that the migration plan included blowing up the planet to harvest the energy for the migration but it's kind of notable that it's only Cosal who's super anti-human due to how things ended on his end in Ciel.

Next I'll probably buy myself some breathing room with some shop scenes, maybe a mix of Tattoria and the SURPRISE NEW SHOP we're about to unlock that's not a surprise because come on who could it be.

Well that was fun, wasn’t it? Though I think I might have gotten a bit of a burn… Anyway, we’ve got one more Dive between Ion and Earthes to talk about. This time, they headed to the fake world of Nelico. Feinne’s Notes: So, Nelico’s Dive is kind of weird. This first bit of it is actually progressively available as our Dive Level increases, and we can get some idea what order we’re ‘supposed’ to do it in by looking at the Dive Level requirements of the events. When you’re doing the level you’re also left unable to help but notice the first event in one area never actually opens up. After doing Quality Assurance, you can probably guess what that might mean, namely that it’s part of a Dive we don’t have yet. They started by dropping in on her old house.   Nelico, what are you doing here? Isn’t that obvious? I came to take a look at your old house.But still, it’s hard to believe how much you’ve smashed it… Huh!? B-But it’s not like I smashed it myself… Same difference. Because you regained your memory, your destroyed this house… It’s connected. I-It is!? Yes. Hrm, so not only were you unconscious, you also didn’t understand the mechanics of it all… I never knew/Not interested Though, I guess that’s understandable. Let me explain something to you…Live I’ve told you before, this world was a part of my plan to trap the lighthouse keeper. Needless to say, the lighthouse keeper’s house is a part of this world. And, since this world is designed to keep her asleep, when she tries to wake up, the world will resist. In other words, the reason this house fell apart is because she is becoming immune to my world. Because I need you to stay in this world and help me create more Sharls… But, in order to give birth to a Sharl, one needs a companion. Thus, I must use tricks to keep him here. In principle, I like that the game is coming out and directly indicting the player for buying into its anime waifu crap. But in practice, literally everything else about the game makes that ring completely hollow... and then it immediately turns around and says "Actually, maybe it's okay after all" anyway. It's almost impressive how quickly and intensely it tries to have its cake and eat it too.

See, this is an example. Have more actual people? Develop the main characters? NOPE instead we'll just dive into Ion's mind-virus thing which doesn't even exist. That's not even something which should be possible. And more to the point, who loving cares about Nelico? The reason this land is called “Kemokemo” is because of how adorable the keeper sounds when she says it. And also this is whole thing is aggressively bad and dumb.
