Whole drat album is a standout. I think Jukebox Joints is the only disappointing song and mostly because of the mediocre Kanye feature that would have been cut if it were anyone besides him i feel... But the production is kinda off to me on that song too plus rocky sounds kind of bored/uneasy on it which is a big contrast from literally every other song ob the album.

Sweet, I've got both the A$AP Rocky album and the new Dizzy Wright album to listen to today. Dizzy Wright's album came out late last night, should be a good one to smoke to.

Still can't get enough of "L$D". Goddamn what a chill track.

Weeknd missed the window to be good and reinvent himself when he decided to release subpar remasters of his 3 free albums instead of making something new for his label debut. This new poo poo is too little, too late.

That reminds me Is there a release date set for Frank Ocean 2nd album yet?

Very interested to see how much this sells because I really really don't think it's going to be a lot. I've listened to it fully once and a handful of songs multiple times. So far I don't think it's as good as his debut album or mixtape. For a lot of it I think he kind of misses the mark. He has no real energy on his uptempo songs and his downtempo songs aren't done in a really interesting way save for LSD, and even that music video released was much better as half of LSD and the first verse of Excuse Me. He's just kind of there on a lot of the production. A dead Pimp C and 2015 Weezy have the best verses on the album. Rocky should have slapped the poo poo out of Kanye like he slapped that chick for that pathetic verse.

Well technically this is his second commercial release, Live.Love.A$AP was just a mixtape. It's hard to really judge him as a three work artist because Live.Love.A$AP just came out of nowhere to be a sensation. And honestly it was a huge surprise with a sound that was very oddly counterculture to the usual New York sound, especially with all the west coast and dirty south influences bleeding through. From there his first studio release was so drat good I don't think it is really possible for him to top himself doing the same thing on ALLA. He does however show an amazing amount of growth in a short amount of time. I'm only on my first listen but ALLA seems much more polished production wise, and while it starts out kind of slow it hits a very good stride in the middle and finishes very strong, whereas Long. Live. ASAP starts off strong and fades in energy at the end.

If nothing else, his collection of works show Rocky's range and that he will be around and relevant for a very long time as long as he keeps doing his own unique style of music.

Yeah this was super phoned in, and lazy as gently caress. He's almost gotten to Jay-Z level when it comes to bad features....but it doesn't matter as long as it brings buzz to the album

I actually think this is going to be his best selling album by far. He's gotten the opportunity to advertise, promote and commercialize the release the proper way. He even dropped it early to create buzz around it! He brought in some big guns for features and focused so much more on production than before while retaining a lot of the unique complexity and layered sound to his beats and verse structure. He is really rapping to the song and not just dumbing it down by only rapping to the hook and I for one am really impressed by his ability in this album. On Long. Live. ASAP he fell into getting lazy and repeating lyric and cadence structure repeatedly (the only time I thought he really stretched out his lyrical legs was on Suddenly). This album he really seems to flex and showcase his talent.

I will agree that at first I thought the pacing was too slow and downtempo but like I said before it really picked up by the end. I think its a very solid album and well worth the buy but if I had my way I would reorder the tracks to keep the energy levels a bit more consistent; like there is no reason why LPFJ2 shouldn't be track 2 at latest, it's really great and would set the tone as an opener.

i really like the rocky album. when did he really learn to rap? i've loved rocky since purple swag but saying he was a great rapper would have been a lie, the only thing that was consistent across all his work was his absurdly good taste. everything was just done so well and dripped with style. it was the composition, not necessarily anything technical that made him stand out as an artist, and with this he seems to have just rounded out his skillset. i'm very impressed. good poo poo.

Agree, I thought he relied too much on charisma and hooks but ALLA really tells you otherwise.

Everyday is going to be one of those HUGE records that gets played everywhere and render it corny, but right now it's a really well done standout single.

Say what you will about Jay Z but his features have actually been pretty good. Seen It All and Devil Is A Lie are both excellent. And he did that Tidal B Side concert which was amazing so I just can't let the slander slide right now.

But he hasn't done any of those things. There are no singles, there is no Goldie, there's really no buzz around the album other than it's a new ASAP Rocky album and I don't think that really holds much weight after 2 years. There is no Fuckin Problems or Goldie off this.

And I don't think you release an album earlier to create a buzz. He isn't Beyonce where you can release something out of the blue and have it go platinum.

quote:

He brought in some big guns for features

Ehh but are they going to pan out? Kanye's the biggest feature name and he delivers an awful verse. Wayne's playing bar and grille's on tour right now promoting a mixtape that no one's really checking for. Is Q bringing fans that aren't already hypebeast rocky fans? Future?

There's no Drake stimulus package basically.

I like this song and I hope it happens but I'll be very surprised if this is remotely true.

We'll see though. He sold 500,000 with his debut album and that leaked months in advance. But it had a monster single and another very popular song.
