The best weapon I've unlocked so far is the Kark-On Splat Roller. It's sub weapon is Squid Beakon, you drop those so anyone on your team can super jump to them. It's great if they are set up on good spots.

Just a cage of bones, there's nothing inside.
I figured as much as soon as I heard there was no real specific means of communication, but at least at launch night there are loads of people who are doing their own thing rather than working towards the sole objective, so a lot of games just end up completely out of your control.

Rollers own though.

what do you mean that hotkey disappeared
My first hour of the game was mired by my router having a firmware screw-up (that I actually had to contact my ISP to fix, :wtc:), but other than that my first experiences with the game have been an utter blast.

Now for the arduous wait until my Splatoon Amiibo 3-Pack arrives...

Man, this game is fuckin great. I'm not very good at shooters so I tend to stay back and focus on filling in as much of the map as possible while other fools lead the charge. Seems to work out well most of the time.

Apparently there are more maps than the oil rig and mall? I've played on a few different occasions now and only had those two.

Anyone in the UK who had their GAME pre-order lorry jacked know if the replacement games and Amiibos are being DELIVERED today or SHIPPED today?

Can't get an answer out of GAME themselves.

Good lord are people terrible at this game, everytime I've come across someone with a Paint Roller they have been helpless against me, maybe I've played too much Gears of War in the past, another 3rd person shooter, but I'm not finding the opposition very hard, most of my losses have come from my teammates being inept or wasting time trying to fight the other team rather than inking everything.

I've only just hit level 4 and regularly been matched with lv 10 and above japanese players, which only makes the above statement funnier.

I swear to everyone I only meant to play for an hour or two and oh God my hands hurt and it's 5 am gently caress I have to go to work.

This game is fantastic and living up to the hype.

I noticed something interesting thought, the difference in points I get in a match only differs by a hundred or so between winning and losing for me even with that 300 win bonus, I guess it's just because the losing team has more of the map to make points off of then the team that's winning.

Also even if I'm a kid now my boss still wants me at work, such a shame

Anyone else having issues with lag in almost every single match? I consistently get matched up with Japanese dudes every single game without fail, I keep dying to someone I killed 3 seconds ago and getting killed by people that aren't even looking at me. I didn't have a single issue during the test fire so I'm pretty disappointed that I can't get a single decent connection going.

I'm doing pretty well at this I think. Usually first or second on my team, win more often than I lose , etc. Seconding the love for the Krak-On Roller; I admit that I forget to use the sub-weapon a fair amount of the time, but rollers are awesome and the Kraken super is a fantastic panic button; one point I was going down a narrow area and two enemies were at the end, one aiming his Killer Wail right at me. Hit the Kraken, went through the Killer Wail, and charged through both of them. Also I think it refills your ink so that's a nice little bonus.

Also, I will admit that I am totally picking my outfit almost entirely for looks; upgraded two of my pieces to two star things when the day rolled over since they also looked cool, but kept my one star shirt because I like it and the new two star sucked. Abilities are nice and all but I need my squid kid to look cool while she crushes her enemies beneath her giant paint roller.

This is a really good game. Also single player unlocks new gear and stuff so don't ignore it entirely.

I too spurn the School of the Clown Shoes on this one. Any other time I'd be wearing the +9 Spurs of the Speed Force but not today.

I got lucky here; the two-star shoes available to me were black and turquoise, and not only looked pretty good in and of themselves but matched my character's shirt (grey t-shirt with blue and black text over a while long-sleeved shirt or something) rather well. Traded my one-star sunglasses for a two-star hat with a pixel squid on it that looks pretty good too. The whole ensemble looks best with turquoise (obviously), blue, or pink (for the contrast) hair and ink, but I think it's pretty nice no matter what.

Got to Level 10 in about 6 hours. I did take a break in there to play some single player. The gamepad battery running low in the middle of a match caused me to panic a bit, and I guess that's a good enough point to stop and go to bed.

I feel like I'm relying on the bubble too much. It makes me not want to try any weapons other than the junior since the only other bubble weapon I've unlocked is a short range charger.
I'll have to experiment some more later.

This game is fun.

Obvious question but theres no harm in checking: the single-player upgrades don't affect your character in multiplayer, right? The ink tank and such.

I'm at level 10 and so far I've had by far the most success with the .52 Gallon and especially the Blaster, which is a lot of fun.

I'm still not sure how people are killing me in what looks like single hits with rapid fire weapons other than the .52 Gallon though.

If you don't have a clear line up the boss, hang back when he faceplants and just spend the cycle getting ink on the side ready for next time. I can't wait to see Splatoon speedruns.

Just get the ink on him to start with, then on his next approach put down a trail of ink so you can swim around to his side quickly. Don't bother stopping to cover the splat he makes when he hits the ground, just jump over it onto his side.

Do equipment buffs stack? I've got a shirt with two squid-speed-ups, is that just a waste of a slot or what?

I'm pretty sure identical buffs stack, but sub-perks are not as strong as the 'main' perk is.

I managed to get the amiibo 3-pack from Target. There was a line (some people said they had been there since 2am), but it seemed like most of them were there to load up on Jigglypuffs and Silver Marios.

I'd love to play the game, but I've been stuck in this lobby for the past 10 minutes and there doesn't seem to be any escape. Please send help.

Got my way up to level 8 before taking a break. Current looking like I'll be using a Jr or .52 most of the time (until I lock better stuff anyway). Will experiment with the squelch shot later. Had only one real connection issue, where I basically disconnected from the match altogether, but otherwise I've had little to no latency issues.

I continue to love how quickly a match can turn around in this game, right up to the last second (especially if someone has a missile ability).

People aren't great with rollers. It's really not something you charge with. I use it to hang back, fill in nooks and crannies, and then charge forward if I have good backup from Splattershots.
