Are people actually liking gyro? I know a lot of sites are just all EWWWWWWWWWWW without trying it at all, but I myself had two problems with it: it was almost TOO fiddly (and the hybrid tilt-stick camera control was odd) and more importantly it moved the lower screen, when you actually want an easy time looking at the lower screen for battlefield info and enemy tracking, if you're clever (and battlefield awareness is basically the core of Turf War, so.)

I know it allows finer control, but it didn't really click with me personally.

Eh, just keep playing and you'll get used to it. I can't imagine playing without it because the right stick is so slow.

I don't think any sensitivity setting helps to fix twin sticks controls on a FPS.

Whew, made it to level 10 and told Spyke to steal me a red hoodie, so I've had a successful night. Played around with the Aerospray and the Jet Squelcher. I can't say which I like more, the Squelcher has awesome range and pretty good damage but barely holds any ink plus the inkstrike isn't as useful as I thought it would be, while the Aerospray has more ammo, better fire rate and spread plus the seekers but its damage seems a little iffy. I eventually went back to the .52 GAL and was pretty successful, though the Killer Wail remains kinda hard to use.

The primary thing I dislike about the gyro is that it completely disables using the stick for vertical aim. If I could use the stick freely along both axes, it'd be great, but it feels so weird, limiting, and unpleasant to only have it for horizontal aim. If it weren't for that I'd use gyro and keep practicing with it, but as-is I have trouble working up the desire to give that a try because it just feels so bad.

Does anyone else know that you can switch stores while in Booyah Base with L and R? The animations for that are hilarious.

It's exactly the same for me. If I could make additional minute adjustments freely with the stick along with the gyro, I'd be all over it. Without that ability though, gyro feels terrible and restrictive so I opt not to use it.

I didn't know you could even disable the gyro controls, but I just use the Aerospray which fires so fast I don't really need to be that precise, I prefer gryo controls anyway, it's a lot more fun.

NEWT THE MOON

I'm never going to be great at this game, but on the other hand, I'm never not going to have fun with it, so I'm ok with that. I'm just going to continue working on the finer arts of Roller Battle and ink my patch time and again.

Thanks for the tip about super-jumping anytime. It's good to know that if I'm getting locked down I can just frantically tap somewhere on the right side of the screen without looking and get the hell out when I need to.

The splattershot Jr and the aero RG are the best weapons in the game by far it seems so far. They cover so much ground it makes rollers seem useless and they have the best defensive/offensive supers in the game respectively. I've gotten over 1400 points with each of them at times because they are so hilariously broken.

It seems to poo poo paint everywhere so it's incredibly useful in Turf Wars. It also feels like if someone points it in your general direction you can't swim away, for all the enemy ink you're surrounded by.

The trick to successfully using the gyro is to not touch the right stick at all. What I do when I want to turn around is I just start moving where I wanna look and slap the Y button. As a side benefit it also gives you instant 180-degree turns! I've surprised more than one player who thought they had me when they snuck up from behind.

I use the Aerospray RG with quick-recovery & special-meter gear when I want to self-sacrificially throw my body into the task of aggressive painting, and the Dual Squelcher with strength & defense gear when I want to hunt my foes for precise, strategic kills. The yin and yang of automatics.

Always gonna have a soft spot for the Krak-on Roller though.

My favorite drawing so far has just been "YOUR A KID/YOUR A SQUID" spelled exactly like that because I know it was drawn by some little kid on day 1 and that's kind of charming.

For what it's worth, though, I actually thought this was pretty good

My flat mate just had a go on it and he couldn't figure out the gyro controls; I didn't actually even realise I was using gyro controls, it felt that natural. Getting about one disconnect an hour which is pretty good for my NZ connection.

Weened myself off the krak-on roller onto the Aerospray (the one with the airstrike and mines) and haven't looked back. I just had the highest score on the server, on the losing team, by 300p!
