Koshi's time has finally come and is well deserved. She and her theme as been my favorite since SA.

Personally UN Owen and Septette is good but way overrated.
I'm also happy for Futo's rising popularity.

The poll has been put up on the wiki and i'm finally taking a look at it, and the thing i'm most surprised by is Renko somehow making it to 22nd place. I didn't think that most touhou fans were all that aware of the sealing club, since they're not in any of the games or mangas. Not that i'm upset because she's cool, but I was really surprised to see her up so high.

Though the thing i'm most saddened by is Illusionary Jourouri only coming in at 83. Come on, its up there with Little Princess and Pristine Beat for best tracks from 14, it's really good. :(

(Also, Komachi not even being in the top 50. smh)

Pretty much every character associated with ULiL went up (except Nitori, for whatever reason), and Sumireko is pretty popular for a new character herself, so.

no, un owen is pretty overrated

especially since ZUN insists on rehashing it for every other EX stage theme

Remember, kids: a vote for UN Owen Was Her is also a vote for Heian Alien, Hartmann's Youkai Girl, and Lonesome Werewolf.

Wait what?

Those other three are kinda similar I guess (though one of them isn't even a Extra theme but whatever) but UN Owen is pretty different from all of them.

Harder than TD, easier than something really hard. It has good music to play through.

Heian Alien has more in common with UN Owen than the others, but there was more than a little mild sarcasm there (tone on the internet) because it's the argument I keep hearing levied against all three of those songs, that they're just "cheap ripoffs of my waifu flan's song" or something of the sort. Something to do with similar chord progressions or being played in a similar key, I think.

I really need to stop reading Youtube comments, probably.

EDIT:

Volt Catfish posted:

It's pretty much the polar opposite of TD; it's ludicrously easy to get extra resources, but the patterns are a lot harder to compensate. Clarste has the right idea, though - it's definitely not on the level of UFO or SA.

Its various gimmicks are also a hell of a lot less annoying than the ones you'd find in TD, IN, or UFO, on the average, and I'm more than a little biased toward its Stage 6 and EX boss themes.

Youtube comments also insisted that UN Owen Was Her was literally impossible to play by humans and is based on/a rendition of the Death Waltz.

Also personally I find DDC harder than UFO and SA even with all its resources but whenever difficulty discussion comes up I seem to be in the minority thinking this, so.

The patterns in DDC are designed fundamentally differently from UFO and SA. Spellcards in UFO and SA are pretty much like 80% static/slightly based on your position and are set up kind of like puzzles, while DDC has a lot more twitch dodging, streaming, aimed and random spellcards in it, so you're probably just better at the former type than the latter.

Basically DDC is lot more like a normal-rear end shoot-em'-up

UN Owen is basically just a straight up copy of Death March anyway:j:

I am a bit tired of it though - too many mixes. Septette on the other hand I still have a lot of time for.

The top ten list isn't too bad. Shame Last Remote didn't make it though...

I thought that "Apollo never went to the Moon" thing was entirely the reason that SSiB could even happen. Hasn't it already been in Gensokyo for like... years by now?

I thought it did, but it didn't get to the lunar capital and that Armstong and Aldrin were badasses that managed to convince the lunarians to allow them to put an american flag on their land.

I thought the lunarians flipped out from having an american flag on their land and took it as a declaration of war.

The only thing that ended up in Gensokyo were books about the Apollo moon landing, which is what Patchouli based her rocket design on. Outside world events still happened as they happened in the real world since that's basically what the Touhou outside world is.

I don't think Armstrong ran into Lunarians, but either way the lunar rabbits eventually stole the flag and shifted the mirror for the Lunar Laser Ranging experiment out of alignment, because they're dicks like that.

The laser ranging experiment is actually a retroreflecting array of orthogonally-opposed mirrors, so it's impossible to misalign. It always reflects light right back where it came from no matter the angle of incidence. Silly rabbits.

Yeah, that part doesn't make much sense given what we learned later. The simplest answer is that Reisen was really stupid/paranoid and deserted for no reason.
