burning 1000 calories exercising == eating 1000 less

well the second is unhealthy but it's about the same effect weighwise. unless you see muscle development as a negative

that plan will get you from mega-fatass to just fatass, but you're gonna plateau unless you REALLY change your diet to be something sensible, or you can continue to do lose weight but you're gonna be miserable because your body will be screaming at you forever because it still thinks sugartown is the normal town and everything else is bland and nasty

you don't have pre-ripened avocados in the us? here in the nordic socialist hellhole they have those in almost every larger store, normal green avocados and ethylene-treated ones that are dark and ready to eat.

there's actually been something of an avocado craze here since these were introduced a few years ago, avocados are really loving delicious. i guess almost all of them come from trees that are clones of a single original plant that gave really good fruit.

re: exercise and weight loss: at least for me, regular exercise makes it mentally much easier to maintain reasonable eating habits. also i'm sure it has an impact on metabolism, when i do 60 hours of sports a month i poo poo very regularly and very effortlessly and have no problems maintaining a good sleep rhythm. at other times when i only ride a bike to work... it doesn't work so well.

"bodies are made in the kitchen, not the gym" is the worst catchphrase-mantra to plague our generation

fat loss STARTS in the kitchen, but a good body is "made" in the kitchen and the gym but mostly in your mind when you break yourself of the shackles of garbage food we tend to be born into in the western world

eat a food lift a thing etc etc the only hard, rigid, 100% immutable truth about fitness is that it's not going to have any results unless you find something that is manageable and sustainable for you and your life, everything else is a fad or crash diet, cleanse, fits-and-starts workout you bail on, etc

Find a thing that you like doing and do it, find food you like eating and eat it, scrutinize micronutrients if it gets you off, or don't. Use supplements if you feel like they help, or don't. Sometimes nothing is going to work and weight loss surgery is an option and shouldn't be immediately derided

as a chronic matter, alcohol fucks with your metabolism bigtime

if you go pound eight shots of whiskey, it won't add up to eight hundred calories. but if you do it a couple times a week it can gently caress with your ability to absorb nutrients and really screw with how your body works

this is how malnourished alcoholics still have beer guts

i think the takeaway is that exercise and energy consumption are clearly linked but the causal connection between exercise and weight loss (which is something else entirely) is not only not as clear, but is muddied by so many other factors

there is something to the cynicism that the "popular wisdom" of exercise = lose weight is promoted by corporate interests which sell sugar water and food to a continent addicted to them

if you think about it, "athlete needed to change diet drastically in reference to their physical activity" if anything just supports the fact that diet is more important than the physical activity

of course the bottom line is still that physical activity is still pretty important, just not a cure-all to having no regard for diet
