Can anyone say if the net code is any better with 4.1? My friends and I tried playing 4 on PS3 and kept getting disconnected. That combined with the long load times meant we played maybe 1 mission every half hour. (this was around launch, not sure if they patched it). Also, how are the load times as well?

I dunno about netcode since I only play split screen, but the load times have been reduced immensely. My weapon list isn't full of a hundred flashing NEW tags because backing out of a level, swapping weapons, and restarting is no longer a 15 minute ordeal.

Playing almost everyday since the game came out, well over 100 hours total, and have had less than 5 disconnects and a couple of times where me or another player was freaking out teleporting during the first few seconds of a mission. Load times are excellent as noted above. Re-iterating my weapon farming advice from earlier in the thread: sort missions by Inferno difficulty and look for people playing 81. It's a robot tripod-only level and even if you're starting fresh, if you're lucky enough to find an adequate set of teammates you don't need to kill anything, just survive (easy if the team has an Air Raider with good shields) and help in picking up items (bring down buildings to make this easier). People usually play farming missions in repeat, so you can rotate classes and get a bunch of goodies, including the Lysander-Z (Lv 90) for the Ranger and the Lv 87 giant mech for the Air Raider. Mission 92 is another favourite though a lot harder to execute correctly; if done properly you can leave 1 UFO alive and farm gold ants for as long as you like. A Wing Diver equipped with a good Rapier parked where the ants make contact with the ground makes short work of them.

Mission 67 in EDF4.1  It's too bad player summoned vehicles don't get the scaling that scripted drop-ins mechs have on higher difficulties. I dropped in a level 20 mech and a single electrical blast took it out.

The scripted drop-in mechs are fantastic for farming weapons offline/solo, if a little slow. Drop into Inferno mode, enjoy your 999999+ hp mech and easy punching fight, let the soldiers mop up the small ant spawns and briefly pop out to collect any greens they drop.

Also the new tweaks to the classes. I think I saw an air raider gun that shoots a marker so now you don't have to deal with the throwing arc and praying it landed where you wanted. That new evasive boosting the Fencers can do now is a godsend and I can't loving wait to dual wield gatling guns without being a sitting duck.

Most of the airstrike or artillery weapons work as a limpet guns now and there's a new spider tank that works in underground missions. Best of all, vehicles now have laser sights, so you can actually tell where you bullets will land BEFORE you fire the weapon. Ranger and Pale Wing didn't get many updates, only thing I can think of MONSTER and the Ranger equivalent getting buffed.

So i subscribed to Playstation Now just to discover that 2025 is on it. And now ive preordered 4.1. God drat i love killing bugs. Theres nothing quite out there like EDF. The sheer sense of scale, chaos, and premeditated destruction. Weirdly enough im loving Fencer more than anything else. The option of having two loadouts of 2 different weapons just feels awesome. As a recent convert to this series ( the Vita 2017 portable port was my induction ) i think im truly in love.
