Gah. For some reason on my latest game I'm having so much more difficulty with Deathclaws. I'm wearing 12DT armor and have 350hp and I'm getting one-shot by them. I remember them hitting hard but I don't remember them hitting THAT hard.

How do people playing melee/unarmed runs handle Deathclaws?

Also in regards to TTW, does it import the FO3 crafting recipes (Shishkebab, dart gun, etc) into NV?

Yes. Everything from FO3 is there. You load all of the FO3 .esm files into the game. If it's a piece of content in FO3, it's in TTW, because that's what TTW does.

Deathclaw attacks completely ignore DT and DR. You could be tooling around in enclave power armor with all the owb dt perks and dosed to the gills with med x and they would still tear through you like you were tissue paper.

I personally don't. I reserve a sniper rifle of some stripe on all my playthroughs just for Deathclaws. Distance is your best armor against the things.

Run away, sneak around, bring companions, level up, lay those millions of mines you never use. Take your pick.

And when I said it's fallout 3 in new vegas I meant it is literally just that. There is a freaking reason you have to own both.

FAKE EDIT: While writing this post, I found a solution! Just a few days ago, a step-project user called 13xforever wrote an improved ModuleConfig.xml file, the old one had some missing tags which caused issues with both MO and NNM.

Okay, so I haven't played this game in a LONG time, and I have no clue what's up with the current mod scene. I downloaded FOMM and the script extender, as well as CONELRAD. What does everyone suggest as must-haves for balance mods/general improvement mods/more variety of weapons/perks etc. mods?

Also : Why the gently caress is it that there are a million quest fixes bug fixes and everything else on the nexus and the OP and still Emily Ortal only shows up like one out of every 15 playthroughs for me? I wants me my loving apocalypse rep.

When I Installed Conelrad, it took a few minutes before I got the notice in my HUD saying the Conelrad radio station was available. Maybe give it time? Also I really highly recommend Mod Organizer over FOMM, but that's my preference.

EDIT:

Recently started getting back into this game for the umpteenth time--poked around the Nexus and saw this mod, which aims to attack the game's economy through a number of scripts. First, it makes different vendors behave differently based on different priorities (doctors are more interested in medical items, gun runners in guns, etc.) and things like their geographic location (large, connected, established stores less willing to haggle; smaller, remote places more desperate to close a transaction, etc.)

Then it also goes after item degradation from a very peculiar angle: It looks at all of the poo poo in your inventory and the things you're doing while it's in your inventory. So drinks in glass bottles might break if you're getting blown up; food might rot or become irradiated if it stays in your bag for too long or you go diving into glowing goo; general items might get deteriorate from getting shot too many times, etc.

Pretty curious to see how this mod plays out because, while it sounds pretty unusual and interesting, it also has the potential to just be a micromanaging headache.

You still have to find/earn the crafting blueprints, it seems. I at least wanted the railroad rifle, but naturally the quest to get it is bugged (escort some chick with less HP than a wet tissue) and I had to console my way through it.

You still have to find/earn the crafting blueprints, it seems. I at least wanted the railroad rifle, but naturally the quest to get it is bugged (escort some chick with less HP than a wet tissue) and I had to console my way through it.

There's usually a few versions of each blueprint, having more in your inventory just makes the weapon start with more HP, unless it's mines or grenades where you get more than one.

Wait, something is wrong.
I just installed the Enhanced Shaders with Nevada Skies and Electro City, now I am getting this weird bleed through effect on light sources:

Any idea how to fix that? I am stupid new to this and didn't see it in the OP

EDIT: Installed RUby ENB, that seems to have fixed it but night is now like, unplayably black. What settings will dial that in so it is not quite so impossibly pitch black?

EDIT EDIT: Just loving with the settings now, will puzzle this out.

So, I remember there were a couple of mods in the works to flesh out NCR and Legion troops and patrols. Does anyone know if any of those ever became something decent?

So, I got a couple mods which really improve Cass. She's got a black leather jacket and better hat now. Small changes but IMO they work better than huge outfit alterations and such.

Now I'm wondering about Veronica. I'm thinking, "She went out of the bunker, why doesn't she even try to fit in? Keep the robes handy for when she has to return home but pick something slightly less conspicuous for wasteland travel'.

Any thoughts or recommendations as to a mod which gives her a decent, lore-fitting, non-slutty alternate outfit?

EDIT : Upon further consideration I think every companion needs an alternate outfit when you do their quest. Veronica needs something suitaibly followerish if she joins the FotA. Cass needs one for each of her endings. It works for ED-E, it works for Raul!

The NCR one seems decent enough, albeit slightly tactilol in its armor design, but has been abandoned by its modder. The Legion one started out okay but has succumbed to the usual feature creep - now it's got a companion, a player home, and ~sexy~ legionaries.

Do you happen to know if they'll play nice with Naky's Armory mod (and specifically use the guns it adds in their leveled lists)? I mostly want more wandering NCR and Caeser's legion goons around carrying interesting weapons, but I'm not sure if there's an easy way to do that with the mods currently out there.

Instead of full character reworks, I think I was running some combination of a mod that simply removes Veronica's hood (probably this one) and a mod that makes any clothing or armour properly visible on all companions, then I just gave her normal reinforced leathers or something. I can't remember what the latter was called, unfortunately.

Anyone know why New Vegas would crash before getting to the copyright screen? As soon as I launch it, it closes immediately. Isn't throwing an error screen at all. Even with mods turned off, it closes immediately.

FNVEdit gave no errors, I've sorted with LOOT, and disabled all my mods.

Verified cache, five things were redownloaded. Still instantly crashes.

Edit:

It was a botched ENB config. First I've ever seen the game just instantly crash before getting to the splash page.

I haven't used the Armory, so I can't say for sure. If the Armory adds its guns to leveled lists, then you could either put it below the NCR/Legion mods to overwrite their lists or use FNVEdit to create a merged patch for maximum compatibility. If it just spawns them in a crate somewhere then someone would have to create a compatibility patch that adds the Armory guns to the NCR/Legion lists.

Is there a mod which gives heavy incinerators to other vendors over than the Van Graffs?

I totally forgot that doing the 'peaceful' quest with Cass turns one of the most prominent energy weapon vendors in the game permanently hostile to you, and am now desiring a stronger fire weapon. Wikia only shows the Heavy Incinerator being looted or sometimes bought from Silver Rush.

Also, shouldn't the uniques that the silver rush sells be sold at the gun runners BECAUSE THEY AREN'T.

I'm mad at pixels now. Making the biggest energy weapon vendor in the game the biggest assholes in the game towards one of the more interesting companions always means I end up hosed over.

I am fond of this mod. It's not exactly inconspicuous but she doesn't look like a hobo anymore.
