Anyway, I might finally get to dust off my Battlestar Galactica again after literally years of not playing it because my two most regular groups hate hidden traitors and consists of three people respectively. Hooray for surprise boyfriends I guess.
The thing is, I can't remember if there's anything crucial about the rules I should explain but can't remember. I originally had it taught by a very seasoned player when my RPG group had too few players, and he did a wonderful job, which I have now forgotten. So: What do I watch out for? I remember that you should have every player pretend to read their loyalty card for a while to allow cylons to read the text, and something about population not mattering, but other than that, I need your input. Obviously I'm rereading the rules beforehand, because gently caress showing up unprepared.

Make sure everyone understands that revealing as a Cylon is an Action.

Food is the one that doesn't matter unless the President's a toaster. If you're playing with New Caprica, civilian ships also don't matter (but population loss from other sources does).

I've never actually played Relic, and I don't really need to, my copy of Talisman already has Warhammer 40K stuff in it. Talisman has Warhammer in it, but Relic doesn't have any Talisman in it therefore Talisman is better:

Anyone played Tammany Hall? It sounds like a really good area control game, I kinda wish I had picked it up instead of Dominant Species mostly due to complexity and length. Is it worth having both, one for those odd big game days and one for more general game night?

It is really good. It plays best at 5 players, but still good at 4, I don't think 3 really works.

The fact that the winner of the last round has the least power in the next round is great.

Yah I really like the idea that the leader has to dole out benefits to the other players, and sounds like it allows for some good bluffing and negotiation as well. Why don't you think it works with 3? A few reviews mentioned it scales really well and works at all counts.

It is better with all the roles filled, plus it stops simple 2 on 1 ganging up on the player perceived to be in the lead. Not broken at 3, but not as good as when you play at 5.

Man, I've been to Talisman fan sites so old I needed Internet Wayback Machine just to read them. Half of them have disappeared over the years, the Talisman Fansite Webring is a graveyard.

But to answer your question, yes I have downloaded everything from Talisman Island :v: I have a large folder with all kinds of board game printables, stuff I want to print but haven't got around to yet. When I can actually get this to work through its fog of bugs, some of the AI is absolutely brutal. It's like you have to play a 110% perfect against a pro-Big Money deck or else you lose all of the time on any AI past like level 3.

I read this, like the idea, don't know anyone who has the game who would want to do this. They seem to like the game as it is, and are casual gamer types. I could borrow a copy and try it but I dunno if anyone would want to play that. I dunno I feel like this is a decent idea but I just personally can't do it. Keep working on it, I like this idea of making lovely games more playable (obviously you should buy and play games that aren't lovely, but sometimes you have to make the best of a bad situation).

Been playing the new Dominion game. It runs fine on my computer. But there are problems:

1. The campaign is interminable - there's like 100 missions against base Dominion. Base Dominion is super boredom town.
2. The AI is terrible. Currently, I'm playing against a single opponent who bought 10 spies. It's taking forever to play out. The only way the AI ever wins is if there's an bone-easy strategy that can sometimes race - like I've lost a few times to Workshop/Gardens (with me playing Chapel/whatever) if someone else co-operates in buying down piles (some of the missions have more players). Oh, and I guess I also lost a really early one because the tutorial makes you buy a random gardens (from there, if you have trouble hitting 5, you can get buried in curses because the computer can open Witch)
3. The UI is kind of flakey.

Speaking of Dominion, there's apparently a tournament at an LGS this weekend (Apparently it's a prequalifier for the Dominion World Championships at Gencon but there's also store credit prizes) 3 player games, all expansions will be used. That's all the information I know. I'm pretty much only familiar with basegame + Intrigue. What else should I know/be on the lookout for, strategy/super-bomb-card-wise?
