One can hope that the boost to the 127mm secondaries will make up for the loss in effectiveness of the Bofors. If it is a good buff, it gives US cruisers a really nice secondary purpose as aerial picket ships.

WARNING: because the version is in development, the information in this bulletin is conditional and reflects the state of the prototype at the time of publication. The newsletter deliberately not been included all the small changes and improvements of various aspects of the game. They will be reflected in the list of changes in version (patchnoute).

New equipment: class equality

During the test equipment of ships has become an important part of the gameplay. Timely use all the features of the ship, from the emergency team to the barrage of air defense, often decides the outcome of a collision with the enemy, and then the whole battle. Equipment plays a significant role in shaping the tactics for each class - it is difficult to imagine without destroyers and battleships smokescreen with no possibility on the go to repair the damage.

The 0.4.0 update control equipment will be organized similar to the menu of upgrades: each ship will be up to four slots in which the player can choose to establish the right type of equipment. At this stage, a relatively large variability can boast only cruisers, but in the future we will continue the development of this system, so that all classes, including aircraft carriers, have a unique set of equipment.

But even after the players to choose, it will be something to think about. Each type of equipment in 0.4.0 will be another one, improved version. In contrast to the basic, free and accessible to all options, improved version will be paid and will require replenishment every fight. The advantage is this: all the improvements on equipment recharge faster and thus help experienced players to realize their potential in combat and reduce the rates of error for beginners.

Quite a lot of player feedback about the role of catapult aircraft reconnaissance in the game. Some testers thought they were helpful enough and often raised them in the air just like that, for no particular purpose. Version 0.4.0 is forever changed. Spy plane will be divided into two types: spotters, and fighters. The availability of a particular type of aircraft, we will configure for each ship separately. Retaining its former purpose, these aircraft will give the player a greater advantage and stronger influence on the gameplay. Catapult fighter patrolling the area around the ship will attack approaching enemy aircraft. Of course, it alone will not cause serious damage or a squadron of torpedo bombers, but at least will reduce the accuracy of the air strike, allowing his ship to move air raids little easier. As for the battleships, their new fire spotter will help them to fully express their class advantage - an impressive weapon of the main fire. It will not only increase the maximum effective firing distance, but will look at the most distant targets at a more comfortable angle, which certainly will appeal to fans of firing at long distances.

Also dubbed the changes in version 0.4.0 will be two completely new types of equipment for the destroyers and cruisers, which diversify the gameplay and strengthen their role in the team battle. Destroyers, loved by many players for maneuverability and agility, get equipment, "Fast and the Furious."At a certain time, it increases the maximum speed as well as the dynamics of acceleration and deceleration. Use the "Fast and Furious" to accelerate the breakthrough in the enemy base, to the position to start the torpedoes or to reserve it for a possible retreat - it's up to you.

Cruisers, proved as versatile ships that are particularly effective in the team will be able to use the sonar search. This type of equipment increases the detection distance unconditional (players often call it "X-ray") torpedoes and ships. This will advance to respond to the threat and to further exploration of fumes. The Allies promptly warned of the approaching torpedoes can avoid damage and enemies who were just found in the fumes, will have to change their evil plans and flee.

Camouflage: camouflage uniform is not

As we know, camouflage for ships widely used in the fleets of many countries. History lovers are probably familiar as standard "spotty" or "striped" favorite pictures on the ships, and a kind of "broken" colors, resulting in a confusion of any person unfamiliar with the subject. Ship Camouflage was not so much to reduce the visibility of the ship as hinder its visual observation, to determine its size, course, speed - in other words, make it a difficult target.These principles formed the basis for the design of the game of camouflage. In version 0.4.0, we are ready to share the first operating time.

Camouflage will be a one-time "consumables", which are valid for one fight, and can be installed on any vehicle in the game. However, remember that after applying the camouflage can not be removed before going into battle. The update 0.4.0 of the test participants will be available two types of camouflage, each of which is a different looking ships of different nations. The effect of applying the camouflage can be expressed as a decrease in the visibility of the ship and to increase the variation in firing at it. After a "running-in" in version 0.4.0, this functionality will be actively developed - and plans to have the new camouflage (including the same "broken"), and various methods for their preparation.

Skills commander: sea kung fu

Since the introduction of the game commanding skills passed a long time, and judging by the numerous responses, they relished the players.However, the system still needs further tuning and adjustment. In version 0.4.0 it will be improved and redesigned, becoming even more logical, sensible and varied: part disappears irrelevant skills and add new capacity, which will fill a number of gaps in bleeding.

Thing of the past not too popular "intelligence from the air": because the system appear to play a prominent role crucial, and not a review, the skill proved to be enough demand. From pumping capacity will be removed with the use of unnecessary restrictions. "Smoke Screen", "Barrage" and "Renovation work" will give way to a single third skill level, "Superintendent", which will give the player additional activations for the whole outfit. It is a popular hang "intercept" will be moved from the third to the first level, and the "Fire work" - in the second. "Cornering battle" also "cheaper" one level and the skill "Improved preparedness", on the contrary, will take place on the third level.

Only permutations we are not limited to: In addition to the mentioned "Superintendent", the system is updated with seven new skills that will increase the variability of pumping commanders. Let's take a brief look at what they do:


"Master-loading» (I level) - accelerates recharging the main battery guns with high-explosive armor-piercing shells in the back and if all trunks charged.
"Preparing board shooters» (I level) - improves performance in a number of shooters onboard aircraft.
"Artillery anxiety» (II level) - includes an indicator alarm if the ship Player shot was fired from the GC.
"Direct control of attack» (II Level) - gives the player an opportunity to select a point to attack Dogfight carrier. Although this feature was previously available to everyone by default, we believe that her commanding skills transfer to enable beginners to grow more slowly in the game and learn the intricacies of the gameplay carriers with increasing complexity.
"The last effort» (IV level) - the critical damage of the engine room and the rudder replaces them with a full stop to a fine performance.
"Last Chance» (V level) - when a small remnant combat capability accelerates recharging points all weapons and squadrons.
"Careful prevention» (V level) - reduces the chance of critical damage to all the basic modules (engine room, steering gears, the main gauge torpedo).

Ships and maps

The game will add a new map of "Two Brothers," which is a small archipelago that resembles the north-west coast of the United Kingdom. The central element of locations - two very large islands separated Strait. The map will be available for fighting on the VI-X levels, and will be presented in two modes: "Standard Battle" and "superiority".

For a limited test in the client will be added several premium vehicles, the most famous of which - the battleship era Russian-Japanese war, Mikasa, who took part in the legendary Battle of Tsushima. The World of Warships will be the first representative of a class of battleships on the second level.Among its advantages - quite powerful bombs of the main fire, well protected, high precision instruments of main battery and a comfortable level of fighting. A torpedo Douglas A2D Skyshark will satisfy any one enemy battleship.

Interface

Some nice interface changes will affect the game. In particular, the update will be the first version of the expected players Notification Center, which maintains reports about the battles and operations on the account within the same session. In the battle, when you hover over icons shells, torpedoes and equipment will occur tooltips with brief information about them. The large size of the audience beta test forced to resort to special tools to control the relationship of players. Version 0.3.2 will have another expected functionality - and complaints. Just played a few battles this morning but so far it's much more fun than WoT. No snipe and camp fests yet. Hope they don't screw it up or make it horribly grindy. Is there going to be a wipe?

...on the plus side I'm feeling much more angry now than I expected so this totally helps me get in character.
manual carrier runs removed and re-activated with a tier 2 skill



I guess that's not a huge deal but it does change everyone's first impressions of carriers.

Some players will reach a specific vehicle and then tend to use that specific vehicle in most games forever. This makes their gold spending plateau out, with regards to those features.

Historically, fighters could suppress AA by strafing the mounts. Giving them the ability to reduce efficiency or even destroy some mounts might be a nice change.

I'm really interested in trying out WoWs, but I also can't imagine a super slow version of tanks with minimal cover and less interesting maps. (I say less interesting maps because what can they really do besides put some islands in there because, you know... it's water.)

You drive boats and you have to think more about the shooting. Instead of a circle where you shell will try to hit any ground within that circle, you have to guesstimate the targets speed and direction, and lead appropriately. So the shooting is better in my opinion. Where you go and how you position yourself also involves more thinking then tanks, you want to point as many guns at the target as you can, but you don't want to give them your side at a favorable angle for them.

You also have less impact on the game then in tanks. In tanks, you can carry the game yourself and win the game. In ships, that is a lot harder with the extended engagement times and the necessity to trade damage. You can win a ships battle by yourself, but it's less likely that you get the opportunity then in tanks.

It's a good game, but it got sort of stale for me, since I was mostly playing alone or with friends that really didn't have the interest.

I assume some people will disagree with me, these are just my personal opinions on the game and I am probably wrong. Consider what others say if they correct me, they are very likely to be right.

I'm quite surprised they didn't put the Shinano in as the tier X Japanese carrier, it seems like it would be the natural choice but i guess they are saving it for a premium ship?

From the Nicholas up US destroyers are all equipped with the Mark 12 127mm(5")/38 calibre gun, which was historically a highly effective dual purpose gun.

Like the 40mm Bofors and the 20mm Oerlikon, it became the gun so good they stuck it on everything.

just had my first decent match. Was fun to play with some folks that stuck together and didn't all die at once. I think I did a decent job of spamming torpedoes and smoke, while raining shells on my enemy. In the lower levels torps are pretty destructive. I wonder if at some point you are going to be given a limited amount so you can't just spam alleys.

I really wish that as well as a land collision warning there was a friendly ship collision warning.. I've been hit and basically disabled from firing guns and torpedos towards enemys several times now, the guys don't even react to comign near me as I turn to avoid. (No it's not me.. I keep my eye on the map to stay away.. and ths happens while I"m going on a steady course. I've watched friendlies turn towards me. it's like bumper boats man.

They have said all ammo will be limited eventually.

As far as hitting other boats use shift to toggle zoom and keep better awareness of the idiots around you.

FYI if any of you use the Aslain modpack for WoWs, one of the OTM mods (version #1 (Altvision) by W03L0BED) in the current version (0.3.7) is causing the game client to crash with a BigWorld memory exception error. The other OTM mod is fine.

E2add: :siren: Aslain just posted on his forums that ALL the flag mods are bugged out too.

Is it just me or is the statistics screen completely hosed? I've been trying to keep track of how many games I played so I can see how far I'm away from the 49 game cutoff for that battleship but it's only showing me that's I've played 11 games. I'm drat near level 6 and almost Tier 4 in the US so I've played far more than that.

Even the external page is showing the same thing, plus only having killed 11 ships, which I know is completely wrong :psyduck:

Too bad WoWS doesn't have replays yet. This battle was insane. Started off nearly getting destroyed by 5 ships chasing me after the initial rush, then blasting distracted enemies one by one until one carrier was left who even torped me down to 1k health. When I finally reached him one gun and torpedo salvo oneshotted him :unsmith:
