Jay, thank you for your recommendations and info in these threads. My cousins and uncle and aunt had a great time in Vegas. I stayed at the MGM and they stayed at Venetian. Aunt and Uncle saw and loved KA at MGM and couldn't stop talking about it. Cousins enjoyed Sapphire, Spearmint Rhino, Omnia, Tao Beach Club and pools at Venetian, Absinthe and we saw Zumanity. Didn't manage to do the car racing thing but saw the Ferrari sales office at Wynn. We tried to figure Craps out but couldn't, did some slots to which they couldn't stop laughing at how quick the money went. One cousin found he loved IPA beer, other hasn't developed the taste for alcohol yet. They really found it memorable. They also loved Shake Shack, never had a burger that good. One cousin has been in US for a week and already is like "WTF? I've got a belly now. Whats in the food?" The Rhino is dark but packed with beautiful women and seems like a classy strip club I'd expect a top one to be like. Sapphire was very..friendly but easier to see. $44 entry fee is steep and so are what we're like $15 beers. The Omnia Nightclub is amazing with that centerpiece light chandelier that changes shapes and it is beautiful. $1500 for table outside and $2500 inside.They don't accept international licenses so gonna need a passport for foreigners for ID. Tao day club was cool but so small, cousins kept wondering why they didn't make the club around the bigger pool cause what they had was tiny space for water. Absinthe was great, the acting, style and performance of the actors was awesome. It was classier than Zumanity and it is hilarious to think of it. Zumanity has a great set and atmosphere and concept but execution was kinda eh. KA apparently blew out my aunt and uncles brain. Grand Canyon was good but we only had time to go to the tourist trap section with the Skywalk. IMO with the food package it is rip off. You have to park and pay for entry by bus which will go to a stop. You can't take pics on the Skywalk, gotta pay for those, but you can take a pic from right the edge right close by for free. Aunt and Uncle liked Venetian and Caesars Palace the best and thought the Aria felt more like a mall in design and did not like the Cosmopolitan. I and my cousins liked the Venetian, Caesars, Wynn, Bellagio. MGM is solid. Bellagio has an older crowd though. New York New York is kind of a mess of a hotel imo. I'm going to Evo this year finally after 10 years of wanting to. We don't really have any strong plans to do anything, except we want to eat Shabu Shabu at Yojie which I hear is great, and also eat at a Vegas style buffet. Which of those are the best right now at 25 dollars or below near or on the strip? Also if any other goons are going let me know I'd like to say hi or learn about some of the games I haven't kept up on (ggxrd)

For 25 bucks you're gonna have to go at the lunch times. And that's on a weekday. If you want to be shady you could always go in at lunch at like 2:50pm and then at 3pm you're already "in" for the good dinner stuff. If you're going to pay for a buffet, there are two that are arguably worth paying for. Caesar's and Cosmo. My wife and I have been twice at Caesars. It was better when they first opened. They probably found ways to cut costs as time when on and they felt like their $17M investment wasn't paying as high a dividend as they like but it was still pretty good. If you're gonna do a buffet, do it right and pay the extra for one of those at dinner time. FWIW I was comp'd an Aria buffet. It was good in the sense that the food tasted good and I was satisfied but I don't think back going "man what a great meal that was". Also my friend recently went to Vegas for a work trip. His conference was at the Monte Carlo so that's where they booked him. Part of the check-in deal was a free buffet pass. He at their and was thus too sick to enjoy any of his free time. Going for a friends birthday this week and would like to surprise him with a trip to Laundry Room. The soooper secret text number is just what's on their Facebook right? In all honesty I'm pretty nervous about a Vegas trip for the first time ever. It's two married couples, a guy I don't know very well and myself. I'm the only one who has ever been to Vegas before and my idea of fun is 1) largely not theirs 2) not very fun alone. So I was poking around hotel rates via JaySB and out of the following options, which are the better options? -Ballys -Planet Hollywood -SLS Las Vegas Hotel & Casino -Luxor -Rio My wife hates walking and driving in Vegas, so my gut feeling tells me that the SLS Hotel is good because apparently it has a monorail access point in the hotel. And she also likes modern luxury styling so that sounds good for her too. Does this sound about right? Edit: What the hell is wrong with the SLS? Ballys is definitely more run down than the others last I went so it wouldn't fit the modern luxury requirement at all, but they also are right in the middle of the strip and they're usually really inexpensive. Doing the $20 trick has gotten me a suite every time I've stayed as well as long as you're polite and ask nicely too even though I paid for the bottom tier room. If you aren't planning on using the hotel amenities or staying in your particular hotel check it out if its in your budget, just don't plan to wow your spouse with the room unless her expectations are really low, even with the suite.

I stayed at SLS during a layover coming home from Vancouver a couple weeks ago. I never stayed at what it used to be, but its definitely has a modern vibe now. Its far rear end from everything you would want to do, but it is definitely convenient that its on the monorail - and the station for it is right close to the back, not acres away like some of the other stops (very useful when coming home drunk) - although I think it stops at like 3am so you might still end up cabbing it home. Also the room I stayed that I got off Hotwire was the smallest room I've ever stayed in in Vegas.. didn't even have a bathtub, and an amazing view of a concrete wall. I didn't try the $20 trick though, so that might be my own fault.

The problem I think people can sometimes have with MGM is the property is so huge, that you could end up a long walk from your elevator to your room (and a long walk to your elevator from the rest of the casino/resort). I'd spring the extra couple bucks if it's not absurd and stay at Cosmo or Aria, wife will be happiest there.

I personally enjoy any room that's clean but my wife comes into play here  Is Hash House A Go Go still good for cheap(ish) eats? Although I don't mind spending coin I do enjoy my cheap drinks and fried food. Any other recommendations in recent memory?

So doing the cliche Vegas bachelor party at the end of the month with myself and four others. Checked back a few pages in the thread and picked up some interesting restaurants and shows to look into, but what I really want is to find some sort of dune buggy/racetrack experience. We're all mid 20s friends who grew up in PA so doing something like that would be perfect to soak up a Saturday afternoon before we spend the rest of the night drinking. Any suggestions? Also, and I know this is stupid, but we are the exact opposite of a dance club crowd. Why Vegas then, right? Anyway, are there any bars where it's a bit more relaxed and we can just get really drunk off beer and not have to worry about looking weird for not ordering something in a martini glass? From what I've read it looks like downtown would be more our area as opposed to the strip.
