Cool, I appear to have lost the ability to play matchmaking! So long as I'm in a lobby with people, the game just searches forever without finding anything- but as soon as I leave people the lobby a game pops up for everyone else soon after, and I'm also unable to find one while soloing on both my accounts. DM/casual and community servers work fine and pop up immediately, but I've currently been searching for a game for 15+ minutes

I've been fretting over this for the last hour, I should have just whined to the forum immediately. I had it on 50, changed it to 100 and then back to 50 and now it works. Maybe it had somehow magically gone below 50?

Ok, if its 30 or so to get a top-notch server I'll pay for the first month. If its getting good use a couple of others are bound to chip in from then on. Can someone volunteer to set it up? I really don't know what I'm doing. edit: sorry didnt see you post. get off yer arse mate and set up the server.

GP Skill works ok, it's just not ideal since it rewards people who play a ton. I just like having even teams in goonpugs.

If that's your goal then as you play with people take note of their abilities so when you're captain you know who to pick? I think I generally manage even teams because it's pretty easy even ignoring these skill indicators. Naked eye test is always the king.

I know how to do it, b. its free if you use their poo poo tier and c. Its probably way cheaper than renting one if poo poo tier doesnt give the performance we desire. $0 for a server was quite attractive to be honest. a 5v5 retakes server works fine on free tier. I didn't test a 14 slot server with gotv, saved replays, gpskill, hlstat and goonpug and all of that stuff but on a server that might see 3 games a night I can't really see the resource/credit cost being very high

Honestly I've got no idea, probably jumping to conclusions like you are. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. I had a completely free, well performing 5v5 server for 4 months. I'm not sure what else to say.
