:siren::siren::siren: THREAD RULES FROM ADMIN - READ THIS FIRST - THIS THREAD IS BEING MONITORED :siren::siren::siren:
1. DO NOT post or discuss unrelated crap. Keep it civil and focus on the games.

Now that that's out of the way...

Welcome to the Senran Kagura Megathread (v.2.0)! Our local den of iniquity where we discuss the various titles this franchise has spawned across the Nintendo 3DS, PS4, and PS Vita. Originating in 2011 from creator Kenichiro Takaki and licensed in the US by XSEED Games, the series currently consists of five titles (not including the mobile game) ranging from side-scroller and full-range 3D beat-em-ups to a rhythm cooking game. The franchise is popular and infamous for it's characters, humor, fast-paced action, and clothes-tearing mechanics. Also for having massive anime boobs.

Senran Kagura Burst - Nintendo 3DS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiXNyG41do0
General Info: Released in North America in 2013 on the Nintendo E-Shop, Burst was the first game to be released for western audiences. The western release actually consists of two games in one; the original Senran Kagura Skirting Shadows featuring the Hanzo National Academy as well as the follow-up title Senran Kagura Burst which originally featured the Hebijo Clandestine Girls' Academy.

Gameplay: Burst gameplay is fast-paced with light and heavy attacks along with the ability to launch enemies in the air and perform aerial attacks. Each character has unique moves and special attacks which can be used during fights against hordes of enemy ninja and the tougher boss characters. The moves and combos of the characters also expand as they level up and unlock additional abilities. The game consists of great music, a shockingly good story, writing, and entertaining characters that have as much personality as they do plot.

Story: Hanzo National Academy. Hibejo Clandestine Academy. Each have been secretly training pupils in the way of shinobi ninja arts. Delicately balancing Yin and Yang, the pupils wield Secret Ninja Art scrolls to harness the power of nature and perform special abilities. The good shinobi Hanzo girls work to further national interests. The evil shinobi Hibejo girls for the highest bidder. But which path is right for a Master Shinobi?

Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson - Nintendo 3DS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X0EjOudsao
General Info: Released in North America on in late 2015, Deep Crimson is a direct sequel to the original Burst title. The Gessen and New Hebijo charactets do not appear in this title as it actually takes place before Shinovi Versus. As such, it returns to focusing purely on the Hanzo and Crimson Squad girls and their ongoing adventure.

Gameplay: Deep Crimson brings a lot of new and interesting features to the franchise with better graphical performance, more open 3D environments on the 3DS, a playable male character (:aaa:), augmented reality features, and a new pairing battle system. The new system allows the player to go into battle with two characters, controlling one at a time while a computer AI controls the other. The paired characters can be given commands and many also have special dual-character shinobi attacks that they can do together. The augmented reality features allows the player to customize and pose up to three characters at a time then take pictures with them on real-life backgrounds using the 3DS' camera. The game also introduces a number of fan-oriented features that allow you to adjust breast size via a slide-bar, disable clothing damage cut scenes, change weapons to upgraded versions, equip skill-boosting gems, and even introduced a new challenging gauntlet mode. Customization was also overhauled with more features and items as well as implementing more interactive features for the dressing room.

Story: The game picks up directly where Senran Kagura Burst left off, and follows the Hanzo & Hebijo Shinobi Academies as they battle for good and evil respectively. This time however there is a greater evil at work, as the tyrannous tycoon behind the Hebijo Academy is hell-bent on raining terror across all of Japan by utilizing a destructive army of summoned demons! This great danger thrusts the girls together and forces them to unite and work as one in a way the series has never seen before.

Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus - Playstation Vita & PC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODVHKd0BP08
General Info: Released in North America in 2014, Shinovi Versus is the third title of the Senran Kagura franchise and the first to be released on the Vita. It is also the premier title of the franchise to make the move to an open 3D environment. The game increased the cast from 11 to 22 playable characters with the introduction of the Gessen Girls' Academy and the New Hebijo. Released via the Playstation Network as a digital title, it also had a limited "Let's Get Physical" release that came packaged with a 144-page booklet and a 39-track soundtrack. These can still be found for around $50 if one looks hard enough.

Gameplay: The game includes various characters for the player to use, each with their own unique skills, weapons and specials. Similar to Burst, the characters gain more moves, lengthier combos, and stronger specials as they level up their three different techniques; Yin, Yang, and Flash. The expansion to a 3D environment allowed the game to have more enemies on screen as well as expand on the skills and techniques a player can use to get through their missions. Players are also provided with an online multiplayer mode where four players can compete in a number of battle-royale style matches either online or or through ad-hoc. There is also a plethora of downloadable content for the game ranging from characters and hair-styles to outfits and accessories.

Story: Through constant battles with their Hebijo rivals, the girls of Hanzo National Academy forged lifelong friendships – not only with each other as a team, but with their rivals as competitors and equals. Six months ago, the Hanzo girls scored a decisive victory, defeating the Hebijo Elites and driving them into hiding. Since then, peace has reigned at Hanzo National Academy, and the girls have devoted themselves to their training. But the times of peace are about to end, as new threats and old are about to converge in a battle royale the likes of which the shinobi world has never seen.

Senran Kagura Bon Appétit! - Playstation Vita & PC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmVWcKNzRl0
General Info: Also released in North America in 2014, Bon Appétit is a rhythm-cooking game for Vita. The game was released only as a digital download via Playstation Network but did come with a complete soundtrack that could be extracted to a PC. The game was released in two separate releases, each for $15. The launch release consisted of the Hanzo Academy and Crimson Squad girls, with a "Gessen x Hebijo DLC Pack" that would unlock the other two schools. If you purchased the Rin and Daidouji DLC for Shinovi Versus then they were also playable in Bon Appétit. Similarly, all purchased DLC for Shinovi Versus carries over into Bon Appétit.

Gameplay: Gameplay is fairly simple to grasp but ranges in difficulty from borderline boring to rage inducing. Notes scroll across two bars on the bottom of the screen and must be hit in rhythm'd sequence to the music. A high score is rewarded by two intermediate scenes where the loser has an article of clothing blasted off of them before continuing the level. At the end of the song, Hattori Hanzo provides a comical and entertaining reaction based upon the players' performance. Oddly enough, the game plays fairly well for such an odd venture. Syncing is pretty spot-on and the soundtrack is pretty solid with songs ranging from full-on vocal tracks to remixes of popular open-domain classical pieces. It is a very good time killer.

Story: Super Dish... A sweet, beautiful sound comes from those words. They bring to mind great cooking and great racks. The perfect combination. Who strives to master the path to the Super Dish? Not nearly enough people, that's who. This year, the Super Dish Gourmet Cook-Off will be held here at Hanzo Street Shopping District. At first, I meant for this competition to be a show of skill for those who have mastered the Super Dish, but few were eager to take up that challenge. So I've prepared a grand prize for the competition: a Secret Ninja Art Scroll with the power to grant one wish. Any wish. Now, why would a scroll with the power to alter the fabric of the world be given away so easily? Why, indeed? The truth lies hidden beneath a veil of dark and shocking conspiracies...

Senran Kagura Estival Versus - PS4, Playstation Vita & PC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg6dtbJPPq0
General Info: The sequel to Shinovi Versus, Estival Versus was released in Japan in early 2015 and in North America in late 2015. This was the first title to be released on a home console and currently hosts the largest cast of characters of a Senran Kagura title to date.

Gameplay: Expanding on the Shinovi Versus formula, Estival Versus contains the same style of gameplay while adding even more features and characters than ever. In addition to all 22 of the existing cast members, four new characters join the cast; Sayuri, Renka, Hanabi, and Kafuru. The game plays almost identical to its predecessor only with more enemies, refined mechanics, more open world environments, usuable stage items, and new features such as "Puru Puru" stage finishers and a gravure photoshoot mode. Multiplayer modes on the PS4 can hold up to eight players at once while the Vita is limited to four. The Vita is also slightly limited compared to the PS4 in terms of FPS (60 PS4 / 30 Vita) and the number of characters you can use in the photoshoot mode (5 PS4 / 3 Vita). The title has a number of DLC characters including Ayane from Dead or Alive and Ayame from the Senran Kagura New Wave card game, as well as Sonsaku, Kanyu and Ryofu from the Ikki Tousen - Battle Vixens franchise.

Story: The flame that burns twice as bright burns half as long, and so it is with the lives of young shinobi. Death comes swiftly — for the lucky ones — and, for those still living, grief is a constant companion. Ryōbi and Ryōna, two shinobi sisters of the Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy elite, know that truth all too well, and they mourn their beloved elder sister every day. But, when a mystical phenomenon appears, drawing the shinobi world’s finest young ladies into a parallel dimension, everything they know about life and death turns upside down. Taken to a strange world resembling a warm summer island, the girls find themselves face to face with their departed loved ones. The island’s mysterious mistresses challenge the girls, who hail from four rival schools, to a contest of strength and wits. The winning school, she promises, will not only learn the highest secrets of shinobi lore, but will also have the honour of laying their loved ones’ souls to rest. The buxom beauties prepare for a new kind of battle, facing not only their rivals, but questions galore. Can the island's hosts be trusted? Will the other schools play fair, team up, or cheat? Will there be time to enjoy the beach before the fighting starts? Will anyone manage to keep their clothes intact? And… if they win, can they bear to be parted from their loved ones a second time?

Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash - PS4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsmOru8DDFw
General Info: PBS picks up right after Estival Versus and, despite not being a brawler entry in the franchise, is a main entry in the story. This time it's all about water gun fights and wet t-shirts. It's commonly looked at as Splatoon meets tiddy-ninjas.

Gameplay: A third-person shooter in which players control their characters using different types of water guns with different abilities: for example, the single hand gun consumes little water, and shoots ricocheting water bullets, and the shower gun continually sprays a short-range water mist. Each water gun has two modes the player can switch between: for instance, the water balloon grenade launcher's balloons can be set to either explode or bounce upon impact, and the sniper rifle can be set to either being powerful with a narrow lock-on range, or half as powerful with a wide lock-on range. In addition to water gun moves, players can use short-range moves that are more difficult to use, but that cause a lot of damage and push the opponent back. Players finish off opponents by activating a Kunekune Finish, in which they soak the opponent in water while aiming at their breasts and buttocks. Battles are fought in different arenas, including beaches, water fronts, and pirate ships.

Story: In the world of shinobi, there is a mysterious water gun tournament that has existed since ancient times. About those rules… Whether you’re a good shinobi, bad shinobi, fugitive shinobi, or dead shinobi, your standpoint doesn’t matter. Victory or defeat will be determined with tournament-provided water guns. All of your special abilities as shinobi cannot be used. The story that starts here is a record of playing in water by the the young shinobi students. What sort of trails will be left on the sandy white beach that continues on forever? That’s something no one yet knows.

Senran Kagura 7EVEN: Girls' Happiness - PS4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq_Ltt80oOI
General Info: The follow-up to everything that has happened in the franchise games thus far, 7EVEN looks to combine the separated storylines of Burst & Deep Crimson with that of the Versus games and PBS. Putting the jokes and character quirks on the back-burner, the series seeks to return to a more quasi-serious story as they finally engage the impending youma threat.

Gameplay: Coming soon!

Story: “Summer ends, and winter passes. In order to greet each spring.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA5pdOxV0tY

Shinobi Heart
No anime-styled game is complete without a complete cast of fun and entertaining characters. Here's the rundown on the Senran Kagura cast, separated by their respective factions. This list only consists of the main characters of the franchise. Guest characters and others will be posted about later on in the thread through discussion.

Hanzo National Academy

Name: Asuka
Voice Actor: Hitomi Harada (JP) / Felecia Angelle (EN)
Birthday: September 8th
Weapon: Dual Wakizashi
Guardian Spirit: Toad
Measurements: 35-22-33
Description: A second-year student at Hanzo National Academy. Her grandfather Hanzo is renowned as a legendary shinobi, and is the academys' namesake. Given her remarkable pedigree, she has a lot of hidden potential within her and bears a strong sense of justice. No matter how hard she may try, though, she can never quite bring herself to look as intimidating as she wants to, likely due to her overall bright and positive personality. Over time, she’s become a source of immense moral support for her friends and fellow shinobi.

Name: Ikaruga
Voice Actor: Asami Imai (JP) / Alexis Tipton (EN)
Birthday: July 7th
Weapon: Nodachi
Guardian Spirit: Phoenix
Measurements: 36-23-35
Description: A third-year student at Hanzo National Academy, she is the class president and the successor to the Houou family organisation's shinobi line. However, she is not their biological heir, which has led to numerous feuds with her adoptive brother over who should rightfully bear the family’s legacy. She was given special classes from a very young age and can perform tea ceremonies and cook fine Japanese cuisine, but when creating new recipes on the fly, her meals are… interesting, to say the least. Though typically gentle, thoughtful and kind, she is also a very proud person; when her emotions flare, no one can lay a hand on her.

Name: Katsuragi
Voice Actor: Yuu Kobayashi (JP) / Brittney Karbowski (EN)
Birthday: November 5th
Weapon: Greaves
Guardian Spirit: Dragon
Measurements: 37-22-35
Description: A third-year student at Hanzo National Academy. She’s over-the-top and easily moved to tears, yet she has an older sister-like demeanour that’s thoroughly endeared her to the other members of her class. There are some ways she might be too over-the-top to her classmates, however, as she tends to be very hands-on in an inappropriate manner. And while these "dirty old man" tendencies of hers can be a little embarrassing for her and anyone else around her, she also constantly strives to become stronger than her peers and spares no effort to that end. Sometimes, she becomes so dedicated to this cause that it even makes her come across as a bit stoic…

Name: Hibari
Voice Actor: Yuka Iguchi (JP) / Megan Shipman (EN)
Birthday: February 18th
Weapon: None
Guardian Spirit: Rabbit
Measurements: 31-21-28
Description: A first-year student at Hanzo National Academy. Although she was born into a long line of prestigious shinobi, she feels as if her skills are somewhat lacking. Espionage is her strongest suit, but she’s still a bit immature and tends to be the troublemaker in her shinobi class. Still, she works hard in everything she does and is beloved by her entire class due to her single-minded attitude and entirely genuine nature.

Name: Yagyuu
Voice Actor: Kaori Mizuhashi (JP) / Bryn Apprill (EN)
Birthday: December 23rd
Weapon: Bladed Oilpaper Umbrella
Guardian Spirit: Squid
Measurements: 33-24-33
Description: A first-year student at Hanzo National Academy. She’s only just begun her training this year, yet she knows that the shinobi world is ruthless and is fully prepared to accept that way of life. This resolution is born from the considerable power she wields, but it’s approval she seeks above all else; she exists to be acknowledged by her fellow shinobi class members. Although she’s rather taciturn most days, her need for acceptance occasionally causes her to come across as lonely. Being the same age as Hibari, the two of them have formed something of a sisterly bond, making Hibari one of the few people to whom she’ll willingly open up to.

Name: Daidouji
Voice Actor: Yuu Asakawa (JP) / Martha Harms (EN)
Birthday: November 11th
Weapon: None
Guardian Spirit: Tiger
Measurements: 39-23-38
Description: A third-year at Hanzo Academy, Daidouji is a senior student who is well-respected by the other students. She is an enigmatic and legendary senior student who emanates a dangerous aura. Despite her age and sparse attendance record, she continues to reign over the school. She possesses overwhelming speed and power and, in contrast to her ninja training, never bothers with stealth tactics. Her earth-shattering, air-splitting fighting style focuses on attacking her enemies head-on. Daidouji typically fights weaponless, instead harnessing the power of her fists.

Name: Ayame
Voice Actor: Kanae Itou
Birthday: May 8th
Weapon: Greaves & Gauntlets
Measurements: 32-22-30
Description: A first-year student at Hanzo Academy, and the store clerk in Shinovi Versus and Estival Versus. Above all else her own desires take precedence as she's a very relaxed, "my pace" sort of girl. She idolizes Katsuragi to point of adopting her outfit, fighting style, and 'I want to harass you' appeal. She fights to kill her past self and move on with her life, which can come off as a very negative way to live. Her fighting style is martial arts while wielding red iron gauntlets and greaves.

Name: Hanzo
Voice Actor: Kanehira Yamamoto (JP) / Bill Brooks (EN)
Description: Asuka's grandfather and a master of the hidden arts that is known to all shinobi. He established a squad of operatives known as the Shinobi Unit in the First Division of the Cabinet's Secret Service yet has since retired to become a sushi chef. He is a generally friendly person and is very found of his granddaughter Asuka. He is also the provider of the futomaki that Asuka and friends are often seen eating which he prepares in his shop. To recognize his accomplishments and to motivate the students to follow his example, Hanzo National Academy was named after him. He is shown to be a lecherous old man who likes to hit on girls.

Name: Kiriya
Voice Actor: Keiji Fujiwara (JP) / Philip Weber (EN)
Birthday: May 5th
Description: Kiriya is the shinobi class instructor at Hanzo Academy. Born to a long line of shinobi, it was decided at an early age that Kiriya would follow suit. Despite having an immense aptitude for the way of the shinobi, Kiriya grew disgusted with the way that shinobi had to risk their lives with each mission, and turned to the teaching department instead. He strives to build his students into full-fledged shinobi yet, due to tragic circumstances involving a former student, he tries not to interfere too much with his current shinobi-in-training. Kiriya believes in teaching his students everything he knows, while giving them the independence to be strong on their own. He is a taciturn and strict teacher, but this is because of his high expectations for his students.

Homura's Crimson Squad

Name: Homura
Voice Actor: Eri Kitamura (JP) / Monica Rial (EN)
Birthday: January 3rd
Weapon: Hexa Katana & Nodachi
Guardian Spirit: Japanese Rat Snake
Measurements: 34-2-33
Description: A former second-year student at Hebijo Academy. She aims to be the very best shinobi, and will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. As the leader of the Crimson Squad, she has immense ability as well as strong leadership skills. While her voice may sound slightly masculine, her good manners show her true femininity. She is grateful to her friends and relentless toward her rivals, but respects and admires the strong regardless of their affiliation.

Name: Hikage
Voice Actor: Ryoko Shiraishi (JP) / Kara Edwards (EN)
Birthday: September 9th
Weapon: Knife
Guardian Spirit: Cobra
Measurements: 33-22-33
Description: A former third-year student at Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy. She’s expressionless and largely wordless, to the point that nobody can ever quite tell what she’s thinking. She claims to have no emotions, but she’s surrounded by friends who are frank and upfront with their feelings, giving her an almost scientific curiosity about the very concept of human emotion. Her weapon of choice is the knife, which she wields with grace and aplomb. She's strong, but doesn't have much motivation to do anything. As such, she keeps avoiding Katsuragi's challenges.

.
Name: Yomi
Voice Actor: Ai Kayano (JP) / Trina Nishimura (EN)
Birthday: February 10th
Weapon: Greatsword, Wrist-Cannons & Bombs
Guardian Spirit: Burrowing Ratsnake
Measurements: 37-23-35
Description: A former second-year student at Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy. She grew up in the slums, and so grew both her longing to live in an affluent house and hatred of those privileged enough to be born into wealth in the first place. She has a special hatred for Ikagura for those exact reasons. She adopts an exaggerated fighting style by brandishing a sword longer than her entire body and also shooting a cannon. It's also worth mentioning that she LOVES bean sprouts!

Name: Haruka
Voice Actor: Megumi Toyoguchi (JP) / Teri Rogers (EN)
Birthday: July 20th
Weapon: Chemicals & Puppets
Guardian Spirit: Japanese Keelback
Measurements: 39-22-35
Description: A former third-year student at Hebijo Academy. She’s a sadistic character who acts like the queen of the castle, and her favourite thing in the world is to tease the weak. Yet despite this, she cradles her juniors’ feelings and acts almost like a mother figure to them. This maternal instinct is probably the reason why she is fond of Hibari from Hanzo Academy. She uses chemical weapons and puppetry, concealing the inner workings of her strategies under her white coat.

Name: Mirai
Voice Actor: Saori Goto (JP) / Lara Woodhull (EN)
Birthday: December 28th
Weapon: Gunbrella
Guardian Spirit: Pit Viper
Measurements: 25-18-23
Description: A former first-year student at Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy. While her graciousness in defeat may suggest a certain level of maturity, in truth she can be immature and disobedient. Her lack of maturity is best displayed in her hatred of being ignored. While it can sometimes be hard for her being surrounded by more mature shinobi, overall she is very happy to be a member of the Crimson squad and is dedicated to her friends. Her umbrella is a concealed firearm, and she hides other heavy weapons under her skirt. She has a fixation on Yagyuu, who was her very first opponent in combat. Mirai is also an active author of her own online blog novel, "Rapunzel the Shinobi", despite not actually owning a computer of her own and being forced to use the display models at a nearby electronics store.

Gessen Girls' Academy

Name: Yumi
Voice Actor: Yumi Hara
Birthday: December 31st
Weapon: Tessen Fans
Guardian Spirit:
Measurements: 36-22-33
Description: A third year and the leader at Gessen Girls' Academy. She's the granddaughter of Kurokage, the rival of legendary ninja Hanzo. As the "snow" in her name would suggest, she has a very calm and cool personality. She lost her parents when she was young, so Kurokage raised her alongside the other Gessen girls. Utilizing movements of the Noh Mai style of Japanese dancing, Yumi attacks using ice techniques that resemble those of a yuki-onna. Despite her stern demeanor and tragic past, Yumi has a very soft heart when it comes to her friends. She also a fixation with shedding her serious persona so that she may become more of a cute kind of girl, even to the point of speaking with a childish lisp. Yumi has also placed first in every character poll she's been in (a total of 4). She is still currently the most popular character in Senran Kagura.

Name: Shiki
Voice Actor: Ayano Yamamoto
Birthday: March 25th
Weapon: Double-Bladed Scythe
Guardian Spirit: Bat
Measurements: 38-21-33
Description: A first-year student at Gessen Girls' Academy, Shiki speaks with a high-spirited valley girl accent and has a lot of friends outside of her shinobi team. Despite her appearance and somewhat lazy personality, she's someone her classmates can always count on during training. Being the most modernized and fashionable member of the Gessen, Shiki is a constant source of information when the other girls are having trouble with their non-shinobi issues. She wields a large double-bladed scythe that's bigger than her body, and fights while spinning it dramatically amongst a small army of bats that spill forth from her magic hat.

Name: Yozakura
Voice Actor: Kaori Ishihara
Birthday: April 5th
Weapon: Pilebunker Gauntlets
Guardian Spirit: Wild Boar
Measurements: 35-21-32
Description: A second-year at Gessen Girls Academy. She has a very serious demeanor and isn't very good at understanding jokes. She doesn't approve of twisted things, nor things that get out of hand. When she comes across either of these two things her native country accent unintentionally comes out. On both hands she wields special gauntlets that change size and cover her hands and wrist. Heavy blows are her specialty as her gauntlets use special pilebunkers to greatly enhance her punching power and fire energy blasts. Yozakura is the oldest of 12 brothers and sisters and substituted as a mother figure when her mother was killed during a mission as a shinobi. After her father's death a year later, however, Yozakura was forcefully separated from her relatives. After escaping, she met was approached by Kurokage whom told her, "I'll give you the strength to protect what is important to you." She accepted his offer with the condition that she gets to reunite with her brothers and sisters again.

Name: Murakumo
Voice Actor: Hisako Kanemoto
Birthday: October 8th
Weapon: Cleaver & Spear
Guardian Spirit: Wolf
Measurements: 37-23-33
Description: A third-year at Gessen Girls' Academy and daughter of the Tairo Corporation CEO. Due to her shy personality, she wears a mask to hide her face at all times. When she wears the mask, she becomes very stern and even bloodthirsty. When her mask is removed however, because of her introverted personality and shy nature, she quickly becomes very nervous and speaks extremely fast. In such an event, she will use anything to hide her face. Even garbage bags. Her weapons are a large cleaver and spear. Swinging the cleaver downwards very quickly results in an extremely heavy blow. She also has the ability to summon her pet wolf, Daigoro, along with other wolves, in her ninja arts.

She lost her abilities and memory after an accident during a mission, but is currently working with Imu and the other New Hebijo girls to reconstruct the academy and restore its honor. Due to a past incident, her relationship with Murasaki had been strained out of jealousy. She has a fond of dressing up as a winged princess which shows off her remarkably curvy figure and speaks in a squeaky, high-pitched voice. Similarly, she becomes increasingly sinister whenever someone brings up the subject of her older sister, Ryouki. Despite her sadistic nature, she has been shown to display compassion towards those she hurts, and with deep regret. While she is normally smaller in the chest, Ryoubi's bust increases substantially when she transforms. Her self-justifying explanation is that it is a sign of her increased ninja power. Name: Murasame
Voice Actor: Hiroki Yasumoto (JP) / Scott Freeman (EN)
Birthday: June 6th
Weapon: Kusarigama

So in Burst the story for Hanzo contradicted Hebijo's plot at several points, is one version of events canon, or does it not matter because boobs? This also seems to happen in Shinovi Versus.

I think it was just part with the final showdown at Hebijo, the Hanzo students have to storm the castle in their story, but in Hebijo's perspective the Hanzo students are occupying the castle and they have to take it back.

Edit: Oh and in Shinovi Versus, the Gessen girl's grandfather is alive in the Hanzo arc, but dead in Gessen's arc.

Whenever they make a game to play from the evil point of view, there have to be contradictions or else it wouldn't be too fun of a game getting beat. IIRC there were a lot of battles Hebijo characters would win, only to have the Hanzo girl get away or power up in a cutscene where they win. I would probably say that the Hanzo version of events would be the proper one, but Hebijo shows what was happening in the other school.

It's worse in Shinovi Versus. Each one actually has the other side losing so in some cases the Hanzo, Gessen, and Crimson Squad girls are all dead. I'd stick with the Hanzo or Gessen version of events, seeing as they're all alive in the follow up.

Well remember, it's the perspective. The Hanzo girls' story sees the prep and the actual attack. The Hebijo girls, being the upper classmen, aren't aware of the attack until the Hanzo are already there. So, by that point, the Hanzo are already occupying the school.

Yeah that makes sense, I was just wondering if they had stated at some point, "If there two versions of events, assume Hanzo's actually happened". Like how Ryu always ends up officially winning the Street Fighter tournaments.

IIRC, Kurokage isn't dead yet in the Gessen arc. Not until the end of it where he passes. He's just really sick and they're avenging the "injustice" that Hanzo committed by not wanting to extinguishing all evil. He does die at the end though after showing up to stop the final battle and becoming friends with Hanzo again.

Indeed, every story contradicts the others at different degrees. Takaki chose to solve this conundrum by taking a page out of Neptunia's playbook and making canon the multiverse on Senran Kagura.

Regardless, Burst's story is the starting point for the franchise. Every game after it reference Burst's events one way or another, currently there are two canons to speak of: the Versus series and the Main/3DS series.

Gessen is the protagonist faction of the Versus series and thus their stories are the ones molding the plot while Hanzo and Crimson are the protagonists of the main series. Versus is a more lighthearted and silly story while the Main series is akin to a traditional shonen story.

Takaki: So, for the first part. The ‘Puru Puru Finish’ is kind of like a Mortal Kombat Fatality, depending on what kind of move you do, you get to execute them in a different way. They have a lot of destruction within the background and the environment. Of course we didn’t copy it, we had to see how it would work within Senran Kagura, we had to put it through a few revisions then refine it to make it work. So there’s always hints of ideas in Western games, but it’s just culturally growing up in a different environment.

Combos, aerial raves, and shinobi attacks were all refined or redone completely. Estival also allows for more enemies to spawn on screen as well as have more openly accessible levels with fewer barriers, though they do still appear. There are also a handful of team battle stages.

The best way to describe it is a polished and updated version of the Shinovi Versus formula.

Not a lot to be honest.

On a technical level Estival and Versus are the same game, with the biggest change being that the girls can run up the walls on Estival.

What they did was to rebalance the characters, add throwable items and the aforementioned Puru Puru finishes.
