I think this is a philosophy we can all aspire to.

I'm thinking the wikihow episodes and the cooking episodes, since they're pretty much hilarious start to finish.

Depends on why you might be recommending the show to that particular person, and what kind of weird poo poo they like laughing at. Those are both good starting points for the "dumb people writing dumb things on dumb websites" stuff.

If you think they'd be more interested in goddamn crazy people on a mission, then John Kitchin or Dozerfleet are good starts. Or maybe the Monster Girl Quest or Pokegirls episode if they have a morbid curiosity about annoying nerds and their horrifying fetishes. There's some overlap there with the Supernatural Dog Dick Universe episode, too, but it's a different kind of nerd being a different kind of annoying.

Best starting episode is definitely the goddamn Roy Orbison episode, because you get a good cross section of fanfiction, weird fetishes, and general craziness without it being too gross.

Early fanfiction stuff works well, everyone loves terrible writing and stories provided by StoryProvider. Ditto the Orbison episode.

I never really liked the Roy Orbison episode that much. If I had to start a new person, I'd say maybe the Audiophile episode if you don't want something gross.

I feel like the Pokégirls episode is less Portaxx actually being angry (which, of course, she certainly is anyway) and more Portaxx exaggerating her outrage and anguish over cartoon monsters as a gimmick for the other Ridiculists to play off of. If anything, she comes off as less goony for it, and a lot more self-aware, compared to poo poo like THIRTY! loving! DOLLARS! A MONTH?! (oh daaamn, this webcomic dork gets a whole dollar a day? is there no justice?)

Next episode was the dragon dildo one.

I noticed this kind of thing happened a bunch. I think they made a gamerscore joke in the cosplay or wedding episode, and then very shortly after we were introduced to bboy360. Perhaps coincidence, perhaps when recording it gives them idea on what content to review next, who knows.

The wedding episode has a joke about wedding achievements, with the Epic Kickballer Wedding's merit badges; but the payoff from that comes in the very same episode with Matt and Dean's Classy Gaymer Wedding actually having achievements.

Yeah but Portaxx whines more than Lemon does whenever the podcast starts poking fun at one of her pet issues. The various crowdfunding episodes always trigger some self-righteous rant when a crappy artist is looking for money for his crappy art, as if artists soliciting money for their art isn't as old as money itself.

Mothering episode, actually. Which means the people bringing up Autism Speaks were anti-vaxxers.

Even if Autism Speaks is pretty bad, I think we can give Portaxx a pass for taking their side on THAT one.

It's also worth remembering that there must be tons of even more infuriating crap they review and either reject outright or record and later edit out, so them losing their minds during the recording could just be the tipping point after content we never got to hear.

And it's all worth it for the bit during the Mars episode where they begin joking about what kind of idiocy would prompt their frustrations.

My thing about the Patreon episode was that, if you can draw, and I assume Portaxx can, why the hell wouldn't you sucker folks out of their money on Patreon? Just come up with some insane fanbait project and go to town. Of course, I have no integrity, if I were looking for money and could draw the first place I'd turn to is horrifying furry porn. That poo poo pays better than most jobs you can get with a degree.

My impression with Portaxx's frustration over Autism Speaks is that Tumblr hates it, and sometimes Tumblr's opinion of things is so lovely that you'll disagree with them no matter what.

You realize there's like, actual debate over AS and when she brought it up she was talking about the assholes doing the whole "Oh my god it talked about how families of severely autistic children have hard times I GUESS THEY WANT AUTISTS IN DEATH CAMPS HUH" right?

Also yea she's an animator, and I can kinda understand a professional being annoyed over lovely patreon 'I'm drawing a lovely webcomic I want this to be my sole job please fund that internet' poo poo.

I can also sympathize with artistic endeavors being an incredibly difficult career to gain steady employment/income in, and that seeing hack fraud jokers get hundreds per month for garbage and still asking for more can be infuriating. Whether it's funny to hear or not is personal preference (I get a kick out of the honest rants), but the same passion that encourages them to make all these podcasts is also what leads to the occasional angry tangent and I'm totes fine with that trade-off.

I guess so, but that's what patronage is. Patreon is by no means a new idea. I can see being annoyed by hacks getting money, but in the sense of the idiot making the medusa comics it's not like he wasn't doing the work and building a fanbase, so I don't know what you can really get righteous about, just kind of disappointed.
