The difference between confinement and rest is a shift in perspective

The BRD problems are something only bleeding edge content players should be worrying about but the Machinist DPS thing is noticable even in LLDR. Granted it's been improving as I get a better handle on the class and it's sort of hosed up counter-intuitive nuances but the amount of effort I have to put into keeping up with a monk or a dragoon doing a six-step linear combo is kind of exhausting

I was parsing around 440-450 DPS sitting in Shield Oath the majority of the time at ilvl170 for my Bismarck Extreme clear, and I've seen it cleared with all of the DPS doing about 550-600. The biggest hurdle a lot of the time for PF groups is neither of the healers ever turning on Cleric Stance, leading to 2% wipes on the snakes or Vanu adds still loving around on the platform when it's time for Corona.

On that note, how much DPS should a monk in 180 gear be doing, at least on a striking dummy?

The general range I've seen reported for most DPS classes at 3 minutes is 800-900. I'm not in a static doing parses, though, so take that with a grain of salt.

Yeah. The biggest hurdle on Bismarck Ex isn't Corona or Carapace, but killing adds quickly. The snakes are a wipe if you can't down them fast enough, and the small Vanu adds will eventually start casting a spell that reduces the island's vitality. The difference between a party that kills adds fast and a party that doesn't is a good two or three more shots at DPSing Corona. This means that the big reason for bringing along Foe Requiem (single-target burn) isn't as prominent.

The way they worded it in the patch notes make it sound like they'll give out more specialization tokens in the future, too.

So basically absolutely nothing has changed and it's still going to be best to have 8 crafters and bleed forever as you get Lucis2 for all of them.

Great.

You could always specialize in the ones you want and get the fancy tools for them and ignore the rest? I mean, functionally that's the same as them having added the restrictions. It'll just be self-imposed.

The impression I got was that your specialist ones will always be fine by themselves, but in order to be competent at a non-specialist craft, you have to be a fully-melded, self-hating omnicrafter.

For the average player who just wants to make a few items on the side the exact opposite of this statement will be what is true. If you want to be able to produce every item in the game yes you will need to level all your DoH classes and have extravagant and costly melds, but wanting to be able to produce everything is like wanting to be max ilv on all your combat jobs. You can do it but you need to be dedicated and willing to endure some unpleasant time/resource investment.

Not really, since the bis gear is going to be weekly capped scrip items (uhh probably I guess technically they could not be BIS but that would be so pointless) that are class specific?

You should get one every 5 levels. You'll be suffering for abilities since a lot of the good ones are higher level on the classes (Careful Synth 2 on Weaver for example.)

I'm now 54, but when I was 53 miner I was having serious trouble gathering Yellow Quartz or Chalcocite collectibles. What is a good rotation to use? I have 575 GP, and my Perception and Gathering are at: 402 and 407, respectively.

I've tried using Toil > Methodical > Discerning Eye > Methodical and Toil > Impulsive > Methodical x2 if proc or Toil > Impulsive > Discerning + Methodical if no proc, but I haven't tried Reveal Hit > Discerning + Methodical > Discerning + Methodical > Methodical

Are there any other rotations I can use that would be more guaranteed, or is it more "get more perception u scrub" like I think it is?

Get 600 GP first of all, shouldn't be hard with the first tier of gathering jewelry and some light melding. Also don't use toil, it's a huge waste of GP for little payoff. The most reliable method is usually going to be 3x methodical with a discerning eye on each, and two collections. At 57 you'll be able to substitute a discerning eye for single mind, which will allow you an extra collection. If you can't hit the min rarity with that method, get more perception.

I've votekicked dead weight and/or rear end in a top hat players in dozens of dungeons and trials. It wasn't usually DPS related, just the player being an utter rear end in a top hat or doing things like being completely unable to dodge the most basic AOE and making us wipe for 30 minutes on the first boss in great library.

Only time I've been votekicked is tanking bone dragon in the center when I'd run CT solo. Usually people in the raid would intentionally wipe us too instead of doing the fight because there are lots of manbabies playing this game and people on our data center are utter insane about bone dragon being tanked to the north.

Cue me doing my level best to DPS at the very limits of my range, using the leash distance of SCH and SCH's fairy to leave fairy just outside of range for healing. And to lock fairy and SCH outside of the first boss's door. Got kicked, sent a report.
