I've been really surprised how strong the Trump support has been from the right wing. It's not like he has some deep background as a staunch conservative or anything, but you see impassioned Trump defenders at Breitbart, Townhall, Politico, Freep. Tea party people are saying stuff like "Cruz or Trump". And what about Rand? Not getting that core RONPAUL RELOVE group in the online polling apparently.

From a few pages back, but that would be the campaign vehicle of one Thaddeus McCotter (R), formerly of MI-11, my old representative. That picture was taken in 2011 at the Iowa Straw Poll where he attracted 35 votes. Later accomplishments include writing a sitcom script (While still in office), getting disqualified from the primary after half the signatures on the ballot turned out to be fraudulent, and resigning from office with six months left to go in his term (Necessitating an expensive special primary and election to get a fill-in for a six week term. Thanks, Thad!)

Trump wisely announced in a way that anyone reasonable would come out strongly against, and any Republican would have to tip toe around due to the base. Even Jeb! and Rubio took a while to respond to it, and they legitimately don't think Latinos are all rapey drug dealers. As a result Trump has, from the perspective of the Right, gotten the Left's panties all up in a bunch. Ergo he's a hero and just tellin' it like it is.

His poo poo about illegal immigrants bringing infectious diseases over the border started on Breitbart and has been thoroughly debunked by several scientists and journalists. The countries that "illegals" come from generally have much higher rates of vaccination than America.

Was hanging out with my father tonight and he's pretty much the poster for a FYGM republican. He started lamenting about how a Hillary presidency is inevitable, how Trump is destroying the GOP every time he opens his big dumb mouth, and that the only way democrats win elections is because 47% of the country wants free stuff. It was pretty great. I mentioned I wasn't a huge Hillary fan and said I would rather see Bernie Sanders get the nomination and he was like "who?" and then went on about checking with my mother to see if I'm really his son since he can't see how he raised a "drat liberal socialist". Haha.
