Yay I'm finally at Heavensward! The opening cutscene really feels like the beginning to a 2nd movie. Like Heavensward is the 2nd of three acts, and the 2nd act is the one where everything goes to poo poo and our heroes are at their lowest point. I'd almost be okay with them gating the content in the next expansion too, just to make it a trilogy. Heavensward is the Empire Strikes Back and whatever the next thing is is Return of the Jedi. Well, the story content. They should include a few new areas and let you get the jobs from the get-go, at least. Locking that out was pretty lame. But you need to beat Heavensward to do the actual story. That sounds fair to me. Also Square-Enix seems to make play arts kai figures of everything except for actual Final Fantasy characters. I would loving kill for a little Raubahn action figure because he is the most badass dude ever.

On the subject of "But the community was so much better in FFXI!", the reason why a lot of people probably think this is because the gameplay in FFXI was so non-existent that during combat, especially while leveling, you generally had enough time to type out a few full sentences before you actually had to provide any actual input. In this game's analogue to the leveling party involves pressing a shitton of buttons without much pause for 20-40 minutes, so people generally don't talk as much in DF dungeons. So what I'm saying is, something people bring up as one of FFXI's good points is actually just more evidence of why the game was bad.

I never liked Fracture as a cross class skill because it's really TP inefficient and everyone (except PLD) has something better than it. Even then I prefer taking Foresight/Bloodbath/Mercy Stroke on my PLD. Never used fracture, never regretted it (even in Coil.)

I'm about to finally hit the HW content. I heard they switched up all the voice actors, is the English dub actually good now? Or should I just leave it on japanese so at least im not cringing through every cutscene.

The VA got better during the 2.x patches because they had more time, and is even better in Heavensward because there's no Minfilia.
