Really need to find a way to restrict the scoring. The best we're going to get out of this match is a draw. Maybe try some line and length bowling? Hmm, nah.

Bell is doing that thing where hes been poo poo for ages then comes out and twats the ball around streakily for a fast scoring 30-50 and then he'll be back in proper form next innings.

I bet if Starc's injury is bad they'll pick Cummins over Siddle for the next test even though Cummins probably can't even remember what a red cricket ball looks like

It is ludicrous that he is even on the tour.

Averaged about 70 in the last 6 tests he played.

Tries hard but is consistently average.

Siddle wasn't very good the last couple of tests he played but Cummins hasn't played a first class match since 2013.

Siddle has lost a fair bit of pace recently in fairness. He isn't especially tall to make up for it. He was struggling to get above 135km/h in his last test series iirc.

I think he should be selected over Cummins who shouldn't even be in the tour party.

Healy (yea hes commentating again) isn't wrong. How uninspiring is Watson. True story for anyone who hasn't read whitewash to whitewash cricket Australia was very split about giving Clarke the captaincy after ponting stepped down.

A bunch of people wanted to give it to Watson.

Would have been worth it entirely for the inevitable Kim Hughes-style teary retirement press conference.

Where's Smith? He couldn't be any less poo poo than Twatto.

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.

I haven't read it but surely this is more an indictment of Clarke than any sort of endorsement for Watson?

He would've been the only other "experienced" player that wasn't retiring imminently I think?

This is probably it, they're about the same age. Given what's happened with Clarke and Katich (and others) maybe they thought he was too divisive?
