Yes. He was arguably worse, because a lot of Bush Jr was just a continuation of Reagan.

Reich is AMAZING. But, it's depressing that a decade later he's still trying to tell people this information.

BAM, he's dead right on that. Democrats failed big time on messaging in that era.

And correct about both parties being tainted by big money.

Bush had two quagmires of a war lasting about a decade going for him, so it's really hard to compare. However, it could be argued that Reagan is responsible for making both neoconservatives and neoliberalism as pervasive as it is.

I just realized in a couple days we're gonna be wishing they streamed The Colbert Report too.

BTW they moved Stewart to new studio in mid-2005 and Colbert would use this one for his show.

Some combination of Ronald Reagan and 9/11 are responsible for the batshit insanity that is the current Republican Party. For that alone, he's easily close to being GWB bad — and the argument could very easily be made that he was actually much, much worse.

Comedy Central doesn't allow streaming for Canada, so my only impression of the evolution of Jon Stewart is this thread so far. Was he really super in-line with elite opinion 10 years ago? Did the change into what we have of him now happen bit-by-bit as the fact that the Iraq War Was A Lie became more and more difficult to deny? Or they started to hire on more writers that were just in the style of what we have now? Or are we still waiting for The Moment where Jon cracks and just won't take it anymore?

Jon Stewart in general just wasn't as available to me, so I don't really know either way. All I do know is what we have of him now, and I guess it is easy to think of him as always some flavour of that.

You can watch the month of zen stream with a free proxy pretty easily from Canada.
