I actually really like this lineup, Cattle Decap are great, I love BC and would love to see them live, Obscura is pretty good for what it is tech-death, and then I'd treat TAS as the headliner and leave after them.

Wake the gently caress up thread Shadows Fall are playing at least one show this year, and probably a few more: http://www.theprp.com/2015/06/05/news/shadows-fall-to-return-to-the-stage-in-august-open-to-playing-other-shows/ Also where the gently caress is Parkway Drive with that new album huh, I mean I haven't even seen the typical "in the studio lol!!!" news about it so what the gently caress

Canada's -core scene is dope. Ion Dissonance, Despised Icon, Protest the Hero, and Buried Inside should be obvious, but also some good more obscure stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhBVKTL9GIs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6t6YHc0xcvE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuOlS4amvjY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whmQ1YAbA7M https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_LSCSVnRGI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qmwLvQvZVU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAukGsPKz58

A soft radio song for a new record could be just that, and then they will unleash twelve other tracks or so of just punishing classic PWD joints ...Or they could become All That Remains

# ? Jun 14, 2015 17:08 |

Also doesn't really belong in this thread, since it's a straight-up Dream Theater clone. Not a surprise, they've been heading in that direction forever. I personally don't hate it much. It may be bland but it's not totally incoherent like everything else BTBAM have ever done.
|
# ? Jun 15, 2015 03:04 |

Calling it a Dream Theater clone is a bit much. It's certainly more prog oriented than their previous work, but they clearly set out to make a rock opera and did a good job of it. There's as much Porcupine Tree and King Crimson in it as Dream Theater.

So Elitist put out a new album recently and I dig it. I remember liking the Caves EP awhile ago, and than being disappointed with the Earth EP they put out a year later and never really listened to anything else they did after that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4ZXhzsd4qA

The Contortionist was an odd act, I only caught the second half but it seemed decent. Not familiar with their material outside of my one listen of Language which didn't really capture me. AAL were amazing as always. I have a new respect for their drummer, he is an absolute beast and a blast to watch. BTBAM though, I almost couldn't ask for a better set. It was: Selkies The Coma Machine Astral Body Lay Your Ghosts To Rest Memory Palace Option Oblivion Ants to the Sky Encore: White Walls I was surprised they didn't play anything off of Misdirect, I was expecting the encore to be Swim to the Moon. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was White Walls, my favorite song ever and I finally got to see it live. Great show, though the venue was absolutely unbearably hot. gently caress Florida, even at night.

New Mudvayne track is alright. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBRAnuT48qo Ditto new STFP. Song's not bad but they were better before they became a RATM cover band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-jNZn57TF4 I'd never listened to Phinehas before but apparently that was a mistake? Decided to try their new album and it's actually great, riffy metalcore in the vein of As I Lay Dying or PWD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVOOlwjzrNI SchwarzeKrieg fucked around with this message at 11:59 on Jul 15, 2015 |
