Nativity In Black posted:I thought I heard yesterday that the price of oil dropped recently due to speculation on Iranian oil entering the market again. This is on top of the fact that oil is the cheapest it has been since at least 2009 (And earlier this year it hit parity with prices in 2004). There's a lot more to gasoline prices than oil prices. Mostly, refining, transport, and gasoline demand.

Cartoons! 1 This deal is really bad if today is opposite day. 2 Nobody mention Dan Lietha, and I think we'll be okay. 3 Accurate. 4 I mean...they're right. 5 "Tennis Lesbians" sounds like it could be a phrase for something 6 Oh god gently caress yourself. 7 Would it shock you that a THREE HOUR video was edited down to eight minutes to create a false scandal? No pimps this time, sorry.

Eschers Basement posted:I'd like to know where you learned that from, because it's pretty much the opposite of everything I've read. Most of the Great Society legislation was passed in '64 after the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution that LBJ pushed through to get the room he needed to escalate Vietnam, and he still portrayed himself as the candidate of "no escalation in Vietnam" through the '64 election. (Not hard to do when you're against Barry "low-yield nukes to deforest SE Asia" Goldwater.) It's something I remembered from my high school "Vietnam and the '60s" history elective, but the quote I was about to pull out ("that bitch of a war") actually wasn't saying what I remembered it saying so vv

People sarcastically complaining about Horsey boobs is the new people earnestly complaining about Horsey boobs. Politoons PSA: WNPR Hartford's show "Where We Live" had a show about political cartoons/political funnies today in honor of Bloom County relaunching. Guests include Tom Tomorrow and Bob Englehart (Hartford Courant; my avatar). I know that those aren't exactly the coolest political cartoonist guests imaginable, but, hey, they both live near Hartford. I haven't listened to it yet, but I'm a fan of the host, John Dankosky, so it should be a decent listen.
