Fulchrum posted:Nearly half the movie is spent trying to show why the lead scientists daughter, who is more competent, a better fighter, better positioned to do the job and can be trusted, needs to accept that only men are allowed to be superheroes, cause women are too precious and fragile to risk. Women need to accept that they are just love interests for the hero despite having no loving chemistry with them. Kind of like The Lorax, where the main character is a kid who wants to get in Taylor Swift's pants- she's the one who wants to save the trees, but she can't go on an adventure herself, a boy has to do it for her.

Anyone remember those ads where they had the Lorax shilling for an SUV? Jesus christ that was an abomination of a movie

Small Frozen Thing posted:Anyone remember those ads where they had the Lorax shilling for an SUV? I would say it's not an abomination, it's just a bland oatmeal. Which is the very worst thing a Lorax movie can be. The Lorax had bite, the Lorax was an attack on the 1%. The only time the movie actually came close to having that bite was the How Bad Can I Be song, and the rest of it is just... tepid.

I think Franklin D.Roosevelt is spinning in his grave so quickly you could use him to power a machine to resurrect William "B.J." Blazkowicz and have him hunt down any remaining Nazis on earth.

Western fundamentalists seem really keen on spreading their brand of Christianity to other countries these days, I guess because they have pretty much failed to do so in their own countries. It wouldn't surprise me to see anti-gay sentiment rising if that stuff takes off. I hear in China Christianity is growing, but I'm not sure what type exactly.
