When I'm President, this country will have the best black lives in the world. We will have the highest quality black lives, and not just a bunch of politicians who only talk about black lives. Let's make America great again!

The cutoff for determining which candidates make the cut for the first debate is August 4th, right? That's pretty tight. Trump had better not flame out before then--two days is not enough time to reschedule my Trump Extravaganza viewing party. (I know the kiddie table debate exists, but it's just not the same...)

Guess which of these three campaigns pay the women among the top 25 payees less than the men in that same group? (72% of what the men on that campaign make): A. HILLARY FOR AMERICA (C00575795) B. BERNIE 2016 (C00577130) C. JEB 2016, INC. (C00579458)* (*Excluding payments made to JEB himself) B Breakdown of the top 25 paid individuals for each 3 campaigns (last filing period): Clinton Count M 11 Count F 14 Avg M $27,232.50 Avg F $31,659.33 Sanders Count M 15 Count F 9 Avg M $5,487.76 Avg F $4,290.70 Jeb Count M 25 14 Count F 25 11 Avg M $7,817.69 Avg F $8,325.81 Edit: hosed up my count for Clinton. So it isn't a manner of hiring a generic woman or a generic man and paying them equal salaries. It is a matter of the candidate has a certain gender ratio for their long term inner circle and those are the people who are drawing salaries right now.

But a Republican candidate was able to have more men than women among the top 25 paid employees and still didn't end up paying them less on average. Now of course, if you're assuming that all your leadership roles will be men because your social network is filled with them, then yeah you end up with a bunch of higher paying men that skew the numbers.

I love that the delta between the Clinton staffers is almost equal to the Bernie staffers. You can't include Jeb! in something like this though, because all of his campaign is being run via the SupaPak.

You have to avoid that sort of thing if you go into an election running on economic parity, against someone who could very well be the first woman president. Otherwise you just look like a massive hypocrite (regardless of your other policy positions).

Also, while I was far far far far far too lazy to do the same breakdown by race/ethnicity, my guess is it would be about the same. Simply because Clinton employees a number of minorities in leadership positions (e.g. Brynne Craig) that are higher paying while Sanders has brought a lot of his Vermont gang on board. It wasn't a defense on my part, but I do think it's a little too simplistic to look at these numbers and conclude long term discrimination or an old boys club or something. People stay with their candidate or don't stay with them for idiosyncratic reasons. I knew a staffer who was a scheduler for a relatively high ranking Democratic Member of Congress and she quit and took a non Hill job because it turns out the member was a dick. On the other side, the Revolving Door makes people with minimal experience some dollars so someone might leave for that too. I know those examples are anecdotal though. That rambling response aside, no, it doesn't look good.

a sample size of 25 isnt really indicative but also thats pretty weaponizing information so its interesting to note. what may also be likely is highly qualified women with campaign exp want to work for hillary more, or were taken first, or people who have worked for sanders for ages are men. or whoever is in charge of the campaign just gets paid so much more and for hillary its a woman, and for bernie its a man. looking at the percentage spread of who works or what campaign. whats the median income? i think that would be more telling, wouldn't it?
