Aren't the purple fluorescent lights supposed to be for detecting if money is counterfeit? Or is this in the bathroom where it's ostensibly for sweet sweet tar heroin, the horsiest of the brown joys.

God, I never ran into anything like that even when I lived in Vancouver. Down here, the worst thing we have to contend with at McDs is passed out drunks near the kids play area at breakfast.

I would be down for that but have to clean up the Meanwhile in YQL (sorry about the bad photos, trying to break minimal amount of laws while using mediocre cell camera) The displays are starting to show up for the airshow B17 arrived and flew around town for a bit at noon and the local crazies are putting up their own displays Not seen: Destroyed front end of car and driver who looks pretty much exactly how you think he would.

The 2 door was very very hard to get for awhile and Dodge figured everyone would want the 4 door. They were going for $20k over sticker price for a short while. He ended up selling it back and getting a used lightning that ran circles around that dodge junk.

So speaking of old crap, complete longshot but anyone have any desire for an old mid sized 76 Mercury Monarch grandma car that a friend is trying to get out of their garage/driveway in Lethbridge? The car hasn't been run for at least 5 years (I suspect at least a couple longer) and I am 99.9% sure the motor is seized. It wouldn't turn over and I couldn't budge it with a 3' breaker bar. 302 2bbl of fury (I actually expected a straight 6) and shows original 33K on the clock (although I suspect the speedo is imperial) However, the interior as the photos show is exceptional and the body is very straight and really pretty amazing for a 40 year old car. The only issue with the interior that I noticed is the handles for the window cranks have some of the plastic cracking off due to the heat/age, but still work fine. Glass is excellent with only 1 chip I noticed in the windshield. I think she can get $500 and already has an offer for $200 which she turned down. I have given the car a quick look over and if someone had something they could transplant in it or work at un-seizing the old 302 it would probably be pretty reliable basic car once the rubber bits are replaced. Yes, those are current plates even the car has not been driven for years

That thing is pretty sweet. I bet taking the plugs out and soaking the piston crowns in PB blaster every couple of hours, then throwing a shot of motor oil in would free it up enough to breaker bar it.

I think her grandma died in 1990 so it literally only been driven around the block a few times since then, up until they parked it for good.

jonathan posted:What kind of budget does one have for a race like this ? Probably about $4.5k/car once you're done with cage/mods/consumables from starting with a "$500" car split across however many drivers you have (not including drivers own safety gear). Adjust up/down for "caring about competitiveness" and/or "starting with the wrong car".

slidebite posted:You know it's not my car but I am not against trying something like that. I am certainly not going to take the heads off but maybe that that. Yeah. All it sounds like is the rings are rusted to the bores. If you can get some penetrant on them it should be easier to turn with the breaker bar after enough time soaking. The shot of oil is just so you don't try to move the rings dry after they've been cleaned of rust. You might want to try alternating Deep Creep and PB; while PB is great Deep Creep will penetrate and clean up varnish while its at it. Goes without saying that as soon as it does move you want to do an oil change, replace the plugs, put new gas and fuel filter in it, and prime the oil system before starting it for realsies. Priming is mighty easy on a 302 if you can find/borrow the priming tool from a Mustang fanboy, so you might as well do it. Once you do start it and have completed the preliminaries for safety your next step is to beat the living poo poo out of it in an under-construction subdevelopment. After all this it will become a $3000 car. I have a good feeling about this one. I think it wants to be free again. Seat Safety Switch fucked around with this message at 16:20 on Jul 26, 2015 |

Going to go over probably tomorrow and dump penetrating oil in the cylinders and button it up until the weekend and see if I can spin it.

They've always had inventory problems, when I worked there the production crew gave zero fucks about actually correctly recording the inventory. They may have tightened it up recently but I still don't trust Row 52 and wait till there's about 3 cabriolets listed before I go for a parts run for the Scirocco.
