I for one believe that Namtab being "Batman" backwards is just a coincidence. :colbert:

I like the Daily Mail, it's the only newspaper that's willing to report on all the Asian rape gangs in England.

The christians declared war on me and even though I think I can beat them fair and square I don't think its possible to meet the victory timeline anymore after I do. Aiaiai!!

The game is hard if you play on hard, it turns out. Tons of fun though.

In battles or mapwise? The map stuff is what I'm trying to reacquire a handle on right now but so far I'd say investing in your economy is really important, any territory you have with average or even better soil you should definitely always be purchasing better farms with. It's also a good idea to try to be consistently growing your territory and army, maybe try going all out in a war to expand your territory to a solid 4-6 provinces and then sue for peace, and use the 10 turns or so to invest all your money in economic development, disbanding cheap units so you don't have to pay their upkeep. It's real important to slow any dishonorable stuff you do like breaking treaties or expanding too fast because it shoots yourself in the foot popularity wise with your neighbors, soon enough they won't even trade with you. Trade is a good source of income but you're lucky to be able to get 200-300 out of any specific agreement and once realm divide happens that all goes away when everybody declares war on you, best to not rely on it too much. Farms and territory are way more reliable.

here's how you win every shogun total war match: control the nearest sea trade port, fight boat skirmishes manually because the ai doesn't understand them. roll in money. use your initial hodgepodge army to rush whoever is near

sharky try to establish trade with the foreigners because it is just infinite money and if you want great units

Sharkopath
May 27, 2009

battlewise the basic idea is to always be holding the enemy with one unit and then hitting them in the rear and side with another one wherever you can. You don't have to outnumber the enemy but if you can go hard towards one side of their line, envelop it and start routing it you can then roll them unit by unit down the rest of the way in a chain reaction. You never want to just be blindly charging units into other units because unless you have the better troops or better position it's a stalemate at best and a loss at worst. Keep your general running to points on the line so units are in their aura, they get a straight bonus to morale by being near them. You can also rally if things get really dire and its always a good idea to inspire any unit taking a lot of damage while being engaged with multiple enemies. The game is all about damaging morale more than actually getting kills, routing units stop attacking and rarely reform.

Archers are really pretty weird in shogun 2, they're worth having but not worth making the core of your army. The basic idea is always swords beats spears beats horses beats archers, but depending on how you use them you can overcome all of that. In early matches with small armies your general is a real combat asset because you can either charge into unprotected archers or slam into the rear of spear units pretty safely to help out your infantry in combat. Just don't let them lose too many men and run away if they start taking real damage, because they're slow to replenish over time.

This is my major issue in almost all rts games i've played. I'm really bad at controlling separate groups of units at the same time, so I always end up charging the enemy straight on.
