If i listen to an In Our Time from 1988 and one from 2015 they sound exactly the same, and that's a good thing. How old is Melvyn Bragg now anyway?

Bragg is 75, although still seems to be going pretty strong - still 16 years younger than fellow Radio 4 host Nicholas Parsons. I do hope they keep going with it after he retires/passes away though - it's such a unique and great show, and it would pretty much be impossible to make outside the umbrella of the BBC. Obviously wouldn't be the same without him, but there are plenty of BBC people who could make a decent go of it.

The point is in all three cases both behaviours are equally reprehensible and bringing up the difference as if it excuses the act is also scummy.

Holy poo poo look at all these posts, there must be a new Hardcore History out...ooh. Ignoring this prissy slapfight, any fans of Tank Riot ( http://www.tankriot.com) in here? Its a weird blend of history, current events, culture, and three nerds sperging, but its pretty awesome. I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you want two hours of chat that you can come in and out of while you're doing something else.

Wow, i'm honored that people went years back to post some milquetoast posts of mine as if they were some kind of massive burn. In a thread that is 100% about talking about posters, not talking about people who make internet radio shows. In a bit of a derail, back to talking about common sense, Dan and Sam make a good duo, Sam is very interventionist and optimistic, while Dan is much more grounded in reality with a very well informed pessimism about the West's role to play in the middle east in general. One of the few common sense podcasts I'd actually recommend.

I've been listening to the Charles Manson saga on You Must Remember This, I'm two episodes in and it's great. Especially since Manson has always existed to me as a pop culture signifier for creepy cult leaders/murderers like Jim Jones but nothing beyond that. I've also been listening to Slate's Whistlestop, and it's great if you're at the "I've read a Rick Perlstein book" level of US politics nerdery or aspiring to it. There's an episode on Dewey Defeats Truman, for instance, or Reagan's 'Nashua moment'. It's also nicely self-reflective in the sense that it acknowledges we love to pore over these details and dramatic turning points of presidential campaigns, but they may not really have had the huge impact we love to assign to them. The episodes on 19th century elections are especially noteworthy because it's a period that doesn't get enough love for how batshit insane some of the campaigns were.

whoever is organizing the 10usp podcast is a complete moron. why do they keep numbering side episodes and unrelated individuals as part of the main episodes? they should place them to one side and categorize them differently. Also Colin Powell is now an American president I guess.
