"When life gives you ghosts, you make ghost-robots"

I think this is a philosophy we can all aspire to.

bucksmash posted:

I've never seen a GDQ live but looking at older runs on Youtube it looks like SGDQ always takes in less.

Even the most homebody goon will go out in the sun occasionally. It makes more sense for AGDQ to take in more money because it's usually cold as poo poo outside and more people are willing to park in front of their computers.

Also drink for every NO SIGNAL.

It's also worth noting that more of the people watching this stream will more likely have experienced cancer in their lives than they would have needed disaster relief. PCF can be more personal for people, and the human brain is a thing that motivates us to give a poo poo about things we experience firsthand.

I cannot believe they're doing another Binding of Isaac run, since all three or so of them have been loving awful.

The only plus side is that they're using Rebirth this time, so maybe that merits one last attempt to make BoI a thing at GDQ.

An Azazel run makes it p. rng-proof, though.

It's funny, the speedrunners make occasional snide comments about let's players since they're typically bad at games but you put a couple let's players on the couch and the commentary would be better in 90% of the runs.

This couch is hilariously antagonistic towards the runner though, which is fine too

that's why the AGDQ 2014 Super Metroid race was so good. The race itself was awesome but the commentary was top notch as well.

Yeah, it's a combination of being able to explain not just what the runners are doing right NOW, as well as explain how that fits into larger strategies and possible options that the audience can watch for. Good commentary means that you involve the audience in more ACTIVE watching.

also they just have to get someone who wasnt a piece of poo poo at BoI like Rayne who couldn't play BoI on a nonpotato computer because it played too fast

there are some dudes that go on huge win streaks and its becaues they can be really consistent

That's because Sinister1 was part of that project and he's charismatic as gently caress. His blindfolded Mike Tyson's Punchout run from the same year is another example of this.

There was a streamer dude with a 100+ Eden streak, IIRC.

One of my friends who went to EVO this year took his wife...

... and his infant child.

He said when he walked through the crowds with his baby they would part like the red sea. FGC can't handle baby power.

I also have a great pic somewhere of him like four or five rows from the front during USF4 finals and his daughter is just completely passed out on his chest, she gave no fucks about the crowd hype :kimchi:
