While I was sorting some of my late dad's old stuff, I found an old Doonesbury compilation; I think it's the first one, since it has strips from 1970 - 1975. I intended to scan some of the pages, but my scanner is kaput; I had to take pictures of the pages with my camera. Here's the first two strips that appear. Here's a Sunday strip from a post-Nixon commencement address. And here are some other political strips.

Are there strips missing? The last one you posted had "6" in it, this one says "8," did Breathed post "7?"

Obama lowered the flags for the church shooting but not the shooting of the recruiters (aka ARE TROOPS). After like six days he did order them lowered, but it was a fairly transparent buckling to media/congressional pressure

Actually this meme seems to be coming from the notion that Obama lowered the flags for Whitney Houston, but not for the marines. Which is funny because Obama also didn't lower them for Whitney Houston either, though Chris Christie did. There's a big detailed summary of the whole affair Politifact, but to sum up, Obama bad.

I guess the only place I got my sources from were right wing cartoons so I was under the impression that it was "BLACK PEOPLE DIE = OBAMA SAD WHITE PEOPLE DIE = OBAMA DOESNT CARE"

A Good Cartoon. Typically stated after offering an alternative, and often far more palatable to us, interpretation of a poorly constructed cartoon.

The local newspaper pulled Mallard Fillmore from the Sunday funnies, finally. Good riddance to the unfunny, out-of-date, out-of-touch, spiteful duck. The very-very local paper made in the nearby town seems to have gone under, though. "B.C." swings for the other team in this strip: (probably because of who is currently President, yuck yuck!) That the strip is co-authored is something that came about in more recent years, I did a quick look into his background because of that. He's in his mid-70's, the Wiki doesn't mention any health complications. I disagree with many of his crass condemnations of people and the religious bint, but the strip is consistently decent looking. I found out that he allowed local parks and metro services in his area to use for their signs without charging a dime for any of it. Sure, it's free advertising and generates goodwill for his brand, but someone lending his famous characters to public services is a breath of fresh air compared to some of the bitter, evil hacks that are sucking blood in exchange for their penned brain poison. King Dopplepopolos posted:Literally posted on the last page, and edited by Rorus Raz on the last page as well. Unforgivable. Cut his throat in front of his family.
