Bernie Sanders wants his supporters to vote for Hillary if and when she gets the nomination. And I don't mean that in the "he'll give her a token endorsement but he doesn't really mean it, guys". The real reason he's in this race is to get Hillary to support his views, and that won't work unless people turn out in both the primary and general.

He doesn't need to because his opponent is Hillary Clinton, who is tied with Obama for most over-exposed politician in the nation - nothing he says about her is going to be news except to people who would dismiss every attack as being part of the vast right-wing conspiracy anyway. Everyone already knows she == big banks, flip-flopping based on audience, and walking into new scandals just as soon as the last one loses steam. It is wasted time and effort. Bernie has positive messages that are gaining support everywhere he says them and he doesn't need to change anything because breaking up the top banks and removing money from politics are middle-America positions.

As a matter of fact, Republicans over the last five years have been hilariously ineffective at advancing their legislative agenda, even when they've had amazing opportunities to do so. Also, here are some ways in which Barack Obama is not a Republican:

PPACA
Nominating Sotomayor and Kagan
Raising minimum wage for federal contractors
Supporting net neutrality
Negotiating with Iran
Re-establishing relations with Cuba
Not hiring climate change denialists to run the EPA
Defending voting rights and minority rights through the Justice Department
Protecting more federal lands
Running an effective Department of Labor
Supporting investment in alternative energy

These are all off the top of my head.

Obama let most of the Bush tax cuts expire. McCain wouldn't have, Romney wouldn't have. Seems like a pretty important policy decision to me.

It's not like there hasn't been substantial, actual sexism in nearly all of these threads in the last week. It's hard to believe it's not there when it's right in front of you. I don't think it's the main reason people have for not liking Hillary, obviously, but just like there was a great deal of Democrats who wouldn't vote for Obama because he happened to be black, I think there's a similar contingent of Democrats who won't vote for Hillary because she's a woman. And just like in 2008 and 2012, if you claim that you chose to vote for the Republican because the Democrat didn't meet some bizarro progressive litmus test, I'm just going to go ahead and assume you have some loving wrong opinions about black people and women, not that you have some weird hyper-principles that require you to loop around and vote against yourself when you don't get exactly what you want.

Anybody remember the lily-white camp of Hillary voters who switched sides to McCain in 2008? I'm going to go ahead and say it wasn't because Obama was too liberal for them.
