You know, I haven't tried many of the new weird Lay's flavors. I think what turned me off was opening a bag of the New York Pizza chips and finding out it was just a bag of grease with chips floating in it

I want to try those because, really, how badly can you gently caress up parmesan truffle potato chips.

The gyro ones are actually pretty decent and taste like gyro meat seasoning + tzatziki. Also, they're kettle chips, so far better than regular Lays by default. The biscuits and gravy ones suck like I expected them to, both because they're regular Lays and they barely taste like anything. I haven't tried the others. I just hope these new flavors don't make the wasabi ginger Lay's go away, they're probably my favorite chips after the elusive Herr's cheddar horseradish. Snacks that clear out your sinuses are the best snacks.

If you make a red velvet cake the old-fashioned way using beet juice instead of red food dye, then you typically do add some citrus or vinegar to maintain a positive pH and keep it from browning in the oven. So while it's not unheard of to cut vinegar into cake, it is weird. Must try.

Turns out you can get them much cheaper directly from UTZ then you can from Amazon. Now the AFP part: I love spicy pork rinds. Locally, though, I can only find plain or BBQ, both of which are abominations. The UTZ website has both spicy pork rinds and spicy pork cracklins. They look exactly the same in the pictures, packaging aside. Does anyone know what the difference is?

Those Utz crab chips are definitely good and were a highlight to my trip to DC but I gotta say, the wasabi chips rule the domain of fancy-flavored chips

If you want spicy rinds go down to the latin market and pick up some chicharrones with chile. Bonus points if they're one of the ones that fry their own.

These aren't seafood flavored, it's actually seasoned with popular seafood seasoning "old Bay" But the Japanese make some pretty tasty prawn crackers.

Are shrimp flavored chips even good? I'm afraid of buying something expensive that tastes like poo poo. They're one of the standard flavors in England ("prawn cocktail"), but since I'm not big into shrimp I've never tried them. If you buy an assorted multipack, it will usually be plain (called "ready salted", because there's at least one nostalgia-based brand that comes with a separate salt packet you shake in), cheese & onion, salt & vinegar, and prawn cocktail. I just go straight for the chicken or bacon flavor when I'm in the UK. I just looked it up on Wikipedia, and apparently Walkers (same company as Lay's) chicken chips are vegetarian. This bothers me.

If they're like the crab chips then they taste like old bay / other seafood seasoning, salty and spicy. If they're bright pink and puffed then they taste like shrimps a little, either way they're pretty good imo

When I was in Thailand, we tried shrimp chips. They were alright. But they don't hold a candle to a different convenience store specialty: pork floss.

It's not the "standard" here but white gravy is a thing, and is made with cream and has chunks of sausage in it. It's not sweet, is actually pretty good on biscuits if properly done.

Yeah, I've just done some googling and worked out that 'white gravy' is bechamel sauce essentially and that in America many sauces are called gravy. In the UK only brown gravy is called gravy which is why it looked so odd to me and biscuits look just like scones so it makes me think 'sweet'.
