I don't really understand why people think the Oracle is some sort of great mastermind aside from really wanting her to be the villain because she's really haughty. Well, since they exist I'm glad we have this to hammer it home some more that hey, the Nightmare Knight is the one really responsible for all of this.

Hmm, I'm not sure why I didn't consider this before, but Rosemaster's "every convenient little miracle" line makes me question/realize. I wonder if Nightmare Knight has always been forcing this plot. Have any of the Legendary Heroes actually been capable of going through the whole thing, or has it always been him helping out since I'd assume after the first? Sounds like a ritual at this point. "Send hero on magical journey to defeat evil every 100 years, or else the world ends" sorta thing. People think the Oracle is the one behind it all because she seems to be the only one involved that WANTS the situation to continue as normal. The nightmare knight just has to keep the status quo for some reason.

Responsible for countless bunnymans not dying, because he refuses to let the disaster masters do whatever? NK is trying to break the cycle by talking to the heroes, and has tried this before. In the meantime he has to dick with the masters' plans not to keep everything on script, but to stop anyone getting hurt (except for the DM's feelings  ) until NK is in a position to hopefully sway the heroes.

I think people suspect the Oracle because if the Nightmare knight is not responsible for the cycle then shes really the only other likely candidate. Unless it's one of the disaster masters but that doesn't seem very likely either. Not many characters have been around since the start of the cycle and all that. Though there's always a chance a Necron gets pulled out of a hat (or Cucu's wand?) at the end. If I recall a lot of the kirby games had the big bad show up in the last hour out of nowhere, so it seems possible. Though I like to think there is no real villain, and the only reason the cycle has went on is because the oracle is terrible at her job and no one ever took the time to seriously talk to the NK about for all these years. That "arrow wound" where Carrot shot her (if you can call a flower made from light a wound) looks almost like livery on a tabard. It makes you wonder if Nightmare Knight and the Disaster Masters weren't themselves adventurers, long ago.

I love this comic so much. I love the idea that the NK is performing his role and doing what he does primarily because the alternative is some kind of horrible fate for his minions. Like, I want to believe that he knows he's always doomed to failure and he knows that it's terrible forcing defeat on them all time and time again but he does it because he knows that there's a worse fate for his minions and he wants to protect them in his own way. This comic makes me wish that everyone (Except the cat queen, gently caress her, but not Peridot she's cool) can just be happy at the end

Cordelia's motivation seems really selfish and self-centered, but it's possible there may be deeper motives. Though the fact that she doesn't seem to have put any real effort into researching NK and doesn't quite know what she's doing doesn't speak well for her.
