My theory is that most libertarians can't process beyond single step processes. It's surprising how often this seems to be the case.

The uk government and media turns out to be actually so full of pedos that the brasseye pedo special is actually not far off.

And several of the people that were on it from media/government were actually pedos, unbeknownst to the crew.

as boxturret said, there's a long slow dropoff. the reward halves every 210,000 blocks which on average should take 4 years. the first halving occurred in november or december 2012 and next will occur in late july 2016 or so, just in time for boom august. no bitcoin miner will be able to make a profit after the next halving unless there's a massive increase in price or a massive increase in transaction fees per block. it needs either price to be $550+ or for transaction fees per block to go from 0.1 bitcoins up to 12.6, or some combination of both price increase and increased transaction fees.
at least the massive drop in mining power from the halving should mean the following one will be delayed a bit

my thinking about this is evolving. I used to think it was because pedos are attracted to libertarianism because clearly they don't think of themselves as bad people and libertarian theory is the only one that doesn't tell them they're abhorrent and should be in prison. but I'm starting to think that libertarians really just don't understand why rules exist. this leads to them not understanding why there are special rules for children. that gets us the non-pedo libertarians still pontificating about how they wouldn't want to gently caress a child, but in theory they're okay with it because...

one of these days i'm going to get in one of those moods that leads me to do things like write a bitcoin faq and i'm going to end up with a big article about my theory that libertarians can't understand the legitimate use of power because they're essentially the same as those people who can't understand why atheists are ethical without a fear of hell. if they were in power/did not believe in hell, they would do horrible things without fear of punishment, so obviously nobody should be in power/not believe in hell

i think the motivation is quite the opposite. libertarians want everyone to operate under the assumption that they are good, fully trustworthy people and can therefore do whatever they want at all times. their biggest problem is that they want recognition of how smart and good they are.

i really think they assume that if they were in charge they'd be one of the good ones

I remember first learning about inflation as like a six year old and thinking "man, deflation would be loving awesome"

I remember fasting during lent as a twelve year old and thinking "man, I wish I didn't have to follow all of god's rules"

I remember thinking as a sixteen year old getting my first real paycheck "man, I would have so much more money if the government didn't take it away from me"
