Bell time The first we clearly see Blair in this book. Fellow walking behind him is Mandelson, who will be in and out of government office a lot Yeah, that last line is a real quote, oddly enough. The meltiest Rambo, and song lyrics! Down in the left corner we see Mandelson, a dog as the minister of transportation (I think? I didn't notice him at first and forgot to look him up), and good ol' Gordon brown. Also forgot who the woman is but she'll show up later. So, I did a thing. While I maintain that I was not in fact the one whom originally brought up the DASGDC thing to our favorite crazy veggie, I thought it was too good of a setup to resist, and while I'm too shy to touch any poop, I do have a thing that should someone decide they want to possibly trigger some hilarity. I spent Alnilam? Wanna give her a poke as a fellow vegetarian afraid of what sort of message she's sending?

We cannot see the alternate universe where the bombs weren't dropped. They had a reason to do it, it may have been wrong. That's the most you can say.

Wait, if Jan is pro-choice, then what problem could she possibly have with PP selling fetal tissue? "It's okay to abort fetuses, but selling them is wrong!" Is she under the impression that the fetuses would otherwise get proper burials (rather than being thrown in the garbage as medical waste)? Is she an ardent socialist who believes that all buying and selling is wrong, no matter the circumstance? (If so, why did she get incredibly turned on when her husband announced he'd made a million dollars off an app he'd developed, instead of being outraged?) The PP "scandal" is only outrageous if you believe that all products of conception have the same status as a born baby. Otherwise, why would you care what happens to them? If anything, you'd be happy that they were being put to good use.

If you don't happen to have a boat though a rising tide just floods your belongings, leaves you underwater and eventually drowns you after you grow weak and tired from treading water for decades. A good metaphor.

Harriet Harman is the woman, Bell describes drawing her as essentially creating a rounded square with eyes at the top corners and you're done.

Karl Rove posted:How does Allie get away with this when Trump is clearly leading the polls for the Republicans? Is he in open denial of that as well? Conservatives who know Trump is insane but won't publicly admit their fellows are in love with the moron either don't bring it up at all, or settle for some sort of smarmy "well, he might be a bit of a firebrand, but he makes some good points..." response. This isn't even his usual willful density, this is straight-up throwing your fellow conservatives under a bus. To be fair to Allie (oh God, in two days I have typed "to be fair to Allie" and "to be fair to Andy [Schlafley]"), people can lead the primary polls at this point and still end up firmly in the "forgotten candidates" hole. At this time in 2011, Rick Perry led the Republican nominees, this time he didn't make the first debate. By mid October, Herman Cain had taken the lead. I don't think he's even running. By December, Gingrich opened up a 10 point lead on Romney - again, not running. Even Rick Santorum led briefly in February, and then failed to make the debates this time around. Of course, last time around had an interesting "anybody but Romney" dynamic where the GOP electorate would flirt with a "not Romney" candidate for about a month and then kick them aside and give some other "not Romney" a chance. Still, there's an argument to be made that Trump is basically the same thing this time around, he's "not Jeb" and in a month or so he'll fall back to the pack and we'll give another "not Jeb" a try. The fear for the GOP is that Trump isn't "not Romney" in this cycle, he's Romney.

Oh, I'm certain Trump is going to get dropped like a sack of garbage soon enough. It's just funny to see Allie calling it ahead of time rather than toeing the party line and doing what conservative pundits normally do: push how awesome the candidate de jour is up and until the moment they crash and burn, before moving on to the next without a hint of self-awareness or reflection.
