I think it is a case of terrible team though when your rollers are constantly getting 200 points and 0/11 deaths I'm pretty much that comic but a more mild version because I'm bad too. I throw myself into the jaws of death while trying to drag everyone else with me but at least I'm actually trying to do the objective. I'm late to the Splatoon party. Level 17, decided to try out the Splattershot Jr. after fumbling around with the carbon roller for awhile and it feels almost stupidly broken how aggressive I can be with this thing. It covers the ground well, Good rate of fire, and the bubbler lets me just walk into enemy territory sometimes... Or maybe the weapon has subtlety taught me to stop being a baby and go into fights that I can win whilst teaching me how to aim a regular gun using these controls in a forgiving way... Or it's stupidly OP which would explain why my last game, all of my team mates were using this weapon. (We lost btw)

Dota has taught me that there is nothing more miserable than being the odd man out when paired up with a group of friends. They play like poo poo and then blame you for everything. Which in Splatoon would probably amount to them circling around you and spamming C'MON but the point about matches being miserable remains. I haven't had long wait times in ranked anyways, though I'm getting paired up which Japanese players a lot now.

I'm trying. I'm trying so hard to love the Splatling Gun. I've given it chance after chance after chance as I slid from A- to B+ to B. But no. Maybe when they roll out the new ones with different weapons so I can have some emergency Burst Bombs or a Panic Kraken I'll come back but for now I'm going back to the 96 Gal Deco. You'll never let me down, Gal.

You'll never let me down, Gal. I had some really engaging games with the Splatling Gun yesterday by playing defensively, but only in the Turf War Arowana Mall / Bluefin Depot cycle. It's easy to turn yourself into an obstacle the other team has to get past. You can see people come up with new strategies to beat you and kind of learn what they're thinking by their actions - it was really cool to see how people approached problem solving! I think important points for the Splatling Gun are: remember you don't have to charge it all the way, it seems to be more defensive than offensive, and the way you contribute to your team might not show in stats well - the Splatling gun is good at forcing opponents to move and area denial, but you might not always get splats out of it.

Been struggling real hard to make any headway in S rank. It feels like I'm at a disadvantage if I'm not using a weapon that splats in one shot (rollers, chargers, anything with Kraken). I'm gonna have to learn some new weapon types if I wanna get higher.

Think of yourself as like a mobile beacon that should always be alive and safe for your team to jump to, except better because you're shooting. In tower play behind the the tower as your team pushes and throw splash walls infront on cooldown. Preferably from above if terrain allows.

Personally, I think the splatling gun is a helluva lot of fun, but I've found that its niche is that it's an area denial/support weapon that's best at medium and long ranges. At short range you're toast, unless you're a good shot or have the drop on them (Or behind a splash wall, but that uses up a lot of ink,) but beyond that it's really powerful.

Well, I just had a 3v4 tower control on the Rig that shows the value of teamwork. When one of us got on the tower the others would head for the possible approaches, drop mines/splash walls, and keep them from ganging up on one of us. When they got the tower the other guys would either hump the tower as well (prime bucket targets) or lumber into sniping positions without noticing the guy behind them ready to splat. We couldn't clinch the knockout (partially due to my fat-fingering a few inkstrikes at critical moments) but everyone was spamming Booya as time ran out. It wasn't 3v4, it was 3v1 many many times in a row.

I just got to A+ rank by slaughtering a team of ~B rank kids. I feel conflicted about this achievement... Also, it's a really weird feeling when I find a new climbable wall in the revamped maps and can reach places I would never be able to get to easily pre-update.

A friend and I rocked some 2-man squid squads. Won about 90% of the games we were in and shot up from B- to B+. Felt pretty good. Another buddy wanted in so we hopped into the 3-man, knowing full well there was a very good chance we'd be going 3v4. "They'll probably try to pair us up with a 4-man that are lower ranks than us," we all agreed, and our hypothesis seemed to be confirmed when we were paired up against a 4-man mish-mash of B-s and Cs. We took the match pretty soundly. Not a knockout, but we held 'em off through their overtime and won it. "This 3-man thing probably won't be so bad after all!" The howls of laughter we made when we were promptly placed up against an S rank and, I poo poo you not, three S+. it was not even remotely close
