Showing basic human compassion for people in poverty, people who rely on gov't assistance, or for gay families isn't going to ingratiate him to GOP primary voters.

Sanders is beyond done. He can't even get Portland behind him. With Hillary Clinton not having to fight off any contenders for the Democratic nomination, she will be rusty and wide-open for the Republicans to trample, riding a wave of anti-Obama sentiment that has been bubbling under for years. I do not think that the low number of debates is to protect Hillary. There are only 4 debate candidates right now (and it will probably remain that way) so having a bunch of debates will wear thin quickly. Everyone will have plenty of time to talk and get their viewpoints out there. Unlike the Republicans where it can be a rotating circus with differing views and feud that can play out. Also, let the republicans hang themselves. The more debates that the Democrats have, the more Republicans can ignore each other and just rail on any of the Democrats (ha ha ha only Hillary).
