If there's anything more important than my ego around, I want it caught and shot now.
I have no idea why Nintendo never made a followup to the flyswatter minigame, that was the poo poo.

Also woulda worked well with wiimotes. Or I guess the tablet.

Actually poo poo the tablet would be great for mario paint.

Nintendo should just stop using Mario and make everything Splatoon instead.

You're getting a game that lets you paint and play entire Mario levels with tiles, what more do you want? :colbert:

The way Splatoon usually handles ties is to just pretend the team that tied was actually a single point behind. If you ever lose control of the tower when ti reaches the same exact point as the enemy, it will tick back down one. Its pretty annoying.

Don't need a holster if you never stop shooting.

I think it's fair, accepting the fact that draw matches aren't a thing in the game. If you were the first to make it to that score, you should maintain the lead on a tie.

I'd have preferred if they just made draw matches count for a win/loss for both sides, though.

I consider it fair enough. The other team did it first after all

I just don't get why it would be a problem too have the game go into Overtime until one team pulls ahead of the other.

^man, that reminds me of a tower control match that was going on in Bluefin Depot, the other team was winning the whole time, outplaying us at every moment, we got around 50 at most and they got all the way up 'till 1. We ran those suckers to overtime and rode that tower into a knockout via some magical bullshit luck. It was the best thing ever.

Because then the game could go on indefinitely.

The current overtime setup works well because there's actually a cap on how long it can take. The game will either end when the trailing team takes the lead (which takes a fixed amount of time), or it will end even sooner through losing control. But if overtime were to continue for tied teams, then there's no cap on how long the match can go. Theoretically, tied Tower Control matches could get extremely long.

So instead of having possible 10 minute matches, rewarding the team who reached the total first is a good tiebreaker.

The Great Twist
My roommate finally convinced me to split a Wii U when I heard about the squid girl collaboration. This game is a beacon of joy in an otherwise miserable gaming season. The squid girl outfit turned out to be a little low on :effort: but there's like only one character model so I see the limitation.

Joystick or motion controls? I've been playing with motion controls but I'm still really awkward with it and not getting much better so I've limited myself to rollers but I'm getting tired of that one overleveled Japanese player picking me off over and over with a splatterscope.

I do a mix of both, joy for wide turning and motion for more precise aiming.

I still do joystick, but I hear a lot of people moved back to motion control and got the hang of it allowing for more accurate shots.

Gyro controls are really useful if you take the time to get used to them. It gives you 1-to-1 aiming similar to a mouse, which helps a lot, especially if you're using a Charger. Hitting reaction flick-shots with the Splat Charger feels amazing.

EDIT: Also, as other people mentioned, it's a good idea to use the stick for wide turns, since that gets really awkward if you're only using the gyro. This is something that the game should clearly state better because it seems to be the intended way to use the motion controls, but a lot of people don't figure that out and switch to traditional controls immediately.

Overtime is extending the chance for the losing team to pull out a win if they have control when time runs out. If they don't pull ahead, they fail and they lose. It's pretty simple.

I played with Stick controls basically from release until a couple weeks ago. I made the effort to switch to Gyro, and now that I'm used to it my power level has increased noticeably. I could never go back to Stick. But also, yeah definitely gotta still use the stick to turn/look left and right quickly.

I'm talking about a scenario where both teams are tied though, or at least would be if the game didn't cheat you out of a second. Its a fringe case though so its not a big deal anyways. If think its happened like twice out of I dunno how many hundred matches.

Motion Control felt really awkward first but I just played thro the single player campaign with it on and that fixed it.

Simple, you strap a wiimote to the pro controller to make the two-player mode somewhat bearable.

This is when it helps to be a sneaky squid. Remember, ninja squid is a waste of a perk since you can just creep through ink without leaving a trail by moving slightly slower. Use this knowledge to sneak up on people and make them feel ashamed.

But if they're covering a narrow path with no ink to creep through then yeah you better go somewhere else. Fortunately most maps have an abundance of alternative pathways you can use.

Sometimes I think the servers in this game just go crazy. Most of the time I never have issues but then I'll play a session where matches don't load and I get disconnected.

This isn't really accurate advice. You have to move worthlessly slow to hide your trail completely. Otherwise it's still distinctly visible, even below full speed.
