started mucking around with a textbook for the equal interval system. it's like reading timecube for music but it makes me do different things so it's good. there was a scale in it that intrigued me and i just did this messing around with it

Wow I'd like to be as smart as a computer
welp the m1 i pickup up for cheap is turning out to be a bitch

i have no left channel at all (headphones or not), usually the headphone amp is the culprit, it blows up and sink the left channel to ground (hence no output even from no headphone).
But after opening it up i noticed the headphone amp was already repaired and there's no input for the left channel on that amp...

The next culprit is the DAC/PCM board... :suicide:

i've actually had a burst of inspiration lately, and i know exactly why. i spent a couple of weeks doing fieldwork in curacao. it's not that it's a great location or that the work is inspiring (both true), it's that i was away from my computer for most of every day, doing repetitive physical tasks. the part of my brain that does the really creative poo poo shuts off when i'm dicking around on the internet all day, but when i've got my lower brain-bits busy doing enough stuff to keep me from being bored but my higher brain-bits disengaged, magic things start to happen

but now i'm back home and back at the desk job stuff and i'm sure the burst of creativity is going to evaporate like a fart in a windstorm again. i ought to quit science and just dig holes for a living; i wouldn't enjoy the work at all but my music would absolutely blow up

if you look at it as a fun sampler then it's all good, tape recorder doesn't understand zero crossings so clicks abound, even for places where there's silence. it's also got surface mount jacks so expect to replace the io board if the babby is playing with it.

see, the tape recorder thing would annoy me to no end in the past. however im a dad now, so I just want something that turns on instantly and I can press a button and it goes beep boop.

the nes thing looks nice, but id have to get an amp, a mixer, a midi keyboard and bwfore id patch it all up kid_1 would have fed kid_2 detergent and, welp, that's the end of that jam.

1: if it has a built in keyboard, the only thing you need for amplification is a set of, essentially disposable, pc speakers.

it's a really cool device but if you want something that makes beeps & boops instantly buy an iPad and spend the other $300 on a bunch of music apps that are actually good

a buddy of mine out of ny, phil white, posted this question to facebook. . . figured i'd ask here see if anyone had some ideas on where he can get some info

"Anybody have experience working with multichannel DACs via arduino (or similar microprocessors). Looking to ultimately have 30+ channels for what's essentially cv control. Shot in the dark."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDkpkh2OqoA

there is something from one of the projects he's involved in doing weird electronic covers.

I have done this. Stability is a big issue if you are trying to use them to control pitched instruments. What does he want to know?
