Henrique doesn't score much either nor does JStaal. You've assembled a fine team of good shutdown guys who score at third line rate. Luckily they're surrounded by Ehlers/EStaal/JVR/EK, it's an interesting mix.

A fair assessment although I like to think Henrique scores more at a 50-60 point rate gone from the horror that is the New Jersey Devils forward corps. I probably need one (or two, would be nice to have one on the third line with Burmistrov if I go that route) more scoring wingers but then again my D should drive offense pretty well.

I'm probably giving way too much credit to Ehlers but good lord every time you see that kid with the puck it's like old school Sergei Samsonov

This was a tough decision between a defenseman I've had my eye on for a while and a forward whom I've been thinking about taking a flier on, and because I could really use a dude who could spend time on the first line while I have four defensemen I'm fairly happy with for the time being, I guess come on back to the nation's capital....

<my head is hurt>

Alexander "Semen" Semin, 31, W, $1.1m next year

This is a big risk as Semin has had some injury, notably concussion, troubles the last few years and seemed particularly out of it this past season, recording career lows on the stat sheet. At the same time, he's coming off the worst shooting season of his NHL life, his fancies are still impressive and all the WOWY stuff suggests he's usually the guy on his line doing the most to get the puck up the ice and towards the other net, and in 2013-14 he dragged both Tlusty and EStaal into positive CF%ages.

Semin still has the potential to be a game-breaking player, and he'll certainly have the opportunity to regain that form playing alongside either Giroux or Couture. I think the one year contract and the poo poo season in 2014-15 will combine to overshadow any post concussion related adversity and reawaken some of the fastest hands in the NHL...

I don't know about 60+ points but 45-50 is reasonable I think. He's got a decent nose for offense, and an underrated shot but he doesn't shoot nearly enough and that's not entirely on the Devils being bad or anything. I just think that's his style of play.

I like that team overall but at the same I feel like they'd have trouble scoring. Eric Staal hasn't been a 30g guy for a while and is now 31. Maybe playing center along side JVR would fix that but that somewhat sacrifices scoring depth since Burmistrov-J. Staal-Henrique wouldn't really have a sniper on it. I feel like J Staal is better suited for a 2nd role. He's mostly been a drag while in Carolina and hasn't topped 9.1% since leaving Pitt.

overall though it's a team that isn't going to give up many goals. I think defensively it's a good group of forwards, the defensemen are actually pretty awesome if a little young, and it's backstopped by Rask.

I was wondering when Semin would go. Even if he doesn't resign in our fantasy land, that's a great vet pick up to run for a cup asap.

I like Habibi's team too, not having a goalie aside. That's a win now team.

I was dorking out and decided to look up point totals for my players last year as a team. Wanted to see where it stacks offensively

Vanek(80gp 21g-31a-52p) - Crosby (77gp 28g-56a-84p) - Dano (35gp 8g-13a-21p)
Hayes (79gp 17g-28a-45p) - Kadri (73gp 18g-21a-39p) - Kucherov (82gp 29g-36a-65p)

Fowler (80gp 7g-27a-34p) - Depres (75gp 3g-20a-23p)
Scandella (64gp 11g-12a-23p) - Spurgeron (66gp 9g-16a-25p)

Holtby (73gp 41-20-10 2.22ga .921sv% 9so)

Team goals: 151
Team points: 411
Forward goals: 121
Forward points: 306
Defense goals: 30
Defense points: 105

e: added forward and defense point break down

I think I'll be ok scoring wise as long as I get another two decent forwards. I have good enough players to ice a decent second no matter what, and Crosby can pretty much guarantee 50 points out of anyone.

I like my defense a real lot actually. I have three anchors who are in their prime now and a good young fourth guy

I'm gonna go with another hometown pick and take Mikhail Grabovski

basically had a lost season last year due to getting concussed twice, but still put up good fancy stats despite almost never being healthy. Counting on him to bounce back strong this year and skate with his head up more, maybe.

Also allows me to bump Frans Nielsen to my fourth line center which is a nice luxury to have

Im gonna take a chance on this one, but I think despite his age he is still a decent player and would do well while the kiddos work their way up. Chicago is happy to welcome back one Rad Rich Bards Brad Richards.

While last year showed he is definitely on the down side of his career, he is still a legitimate 2/3C on almost any team. I still think he put up decent numbers considering Q was constantly loving with his placement in the roster, often pairing him up with gritty playoff hero Bryan Bickell. Plus its a short contract just in case he does poo poo the bed permanently!

Why would you only play Nielsen fourth line minutes, that seems like a waste. Move Grabovski to his wing on the third.

They're all lefties so I was trying to just stay true to where they'd be comfortable lining up, but yeah it's definitely something I would consider doing depending on who falls where as the draft goes on. I don't have many righties at this point but I suppose for a fake team it doesn't matter all that much. Grabo wouldn't be too out of place as a second line RW since he just skates down the middle of the ice most of the time regardless of what's going on.
