Here's your preview of Rainmaker mode: Teammate 1): A player that believes Rainmaker is actually Turfwar and spends the entire time painting your spawn* Teammate 2): A player that believes it's capture the Rainmaker and spends the entire map moving it closer to your spawn Teammate 3): A player that knows that having the Rainmaker is key to HELLA SICK loving RAD K/D/A and grabs it only to try and get frags *bonus points if they paint/inkstrike the enemy spawn which might be the most actively detrimental thing you can do.

When you break the shield around the rainmaker whichever team inked it the most will get a nuke and it'll kill everyone near it of the other color. So if you shoot it full of blue it'll wipe out every orange inkling standing by it.

Tower Control involves dying more than any other mode, and some people get cranky about that instead of embracing self-sacrifice and donning gear with death perks.

I haven't seen any gear I don't own honestly and all the shops are cycling already sold stuff so that's what I'm basing my claim off of v vOnly stuff I don't have is the level gear because holy poo poo what a grind.

I'm way better at tower control than splatzones and I like it more. Well, that or people are worse at tower control than splatzones. I feel like the super-pro players seem to come out more for splatzones. B+ seems to be where I'm going to stay. I feel like my splat skills deteriorate quickly if I don't play every day. I am still honestly amazed Splatoon is so close in theme to all those weird 90's Nickelodeon game shows, because as far as I'm aware the developers didn't have that in mind at all. If it did show up in an interview somewhere though I'd love to read that.

In Tower Control, the point of contention moves around the stage, making the battles feel more diverse around the level. I think that's why I like it more than Splat Zones, which generally just focuses the action on one or two areas.

Over/under on Mall getting a similar make over to the Underpass? I can't think of another map in the game that has the same tight chokepoint problem now that the later was changed to be better. Well Tower is kinda meh but they had enough sense to separate the zones in that one so it works.

The problem with tower control is that it's more restrictive of the play style necessary to win. This isn't inherently bad, the problem is when you get people who refuse to jump on the tower because they're scared and prefer to stay back. In splat zones you can be useful doing that, but in tower you need to jump on the tower sometimes, and some people never will. So it can lead to frustrating teams.
