basically it was helldump that taught me why i was actually arguing with people. i keep these two posts in a file to occasionally remind me to stop getting into arguments on sa or elsewhere (which doesn't always work):

goatstein posted:

here's the problem: let's say Retard X posts a screed about how homosexuals opposing ron paul ware causing a chillul hashem and thus global warming on neptune. a few weeks ago, in order to debate him i'd have to spend 5-30 minutes picking apart his argument, finding sources, typing up a coherent rebuttal, etc, and even then he probably wouldn't even admit his error. now i can just go to Insulting D&D Meta-Chat in helldump and call him a dumb human being, which is easier and what i really wanted to do anyway.

peenworm posted:

I find myself having a bit more difficulty posting in D&D simply because now all I can think to say is "you loving idiots" and at the same time I get the sense that everything I've ever said besides that was straying from the central thesis which is: you loving idiots.

It is also true that capitalism is unethical neo-feudal horseshit now nearing the end of its lifespan.

A basic but surefire sign of intellect is the ability to adequately summarize one's argument along with the supporting evidence. You linked to a 30-minute video on YouTube. Doing so without a summary or explanation is an appeal to authority by way of volume.

Please summarize the thesis and reasoning of Michael Maloney, the producer and host of Hidden Secrets of Money, "an acclaimed investment education series that aims to enlighten the world that maximum prosperity can only be achieved through individual freedom, free markets, and sound money."

i have this dream that maybe we'll one day enter this post-scarcity world and east and west will still be opposed, one being post-scarcity communism and one being post-scarcity capitalism. both hum along fine but they still hate each other which will show how dumb the split views were in the first place and how human nature is just crappy.

anyway it will never happen because (a) peak oil (b) peak phosphorus (c) capitalism

every wealthy country and corporation says they want to end world hunger and makes pledges and spends money to apparently do it. but take the chinese corn crises for example. a country with over a billion people wants a more gainful species of corn and attempt to re-engineer the crops of Monsanto and DuPont. we don't hand it over as kind neighbours, we use our intelligence agencies to spy and subvert on the process.

anyway, china is a glimmer of hope in the world, not for it's "communist" party ideas, but it's one of the few countries that is not intimidated by the USA and not on their leash, so that's something.
